Worcester County Sheriff's Office Speed Enforcement Initiatives

Speed Enforcement Initiatives! Deputies have been conducting speed enforcement in the Newark Area, Girdletree area and Bishopville area. We have noticed that there has been a decrease in speeds in the Newark area and we will continue to monitor this area. Our efforts in the Bishopville and Girdletree area, continue to be productive and speeds have diminished some what. We will be working in West Ocean City area this week, specifically the Mystic Harbor area and Center Drive locations.. Both of these communities have a large amount of foot and bicycle traffic and complaints of speeders have came in from our residents that live in the area. Deputies will be on bikes, foot, motor units, ATV,s and marked and unmarked patrol vehicles to curb aggressive driving in these neighborhoods. Deputies will also be monitoring 113 in Snow Hill as the new construction of Public Landing has been completed. Please use caution approaching this intersection and be mindful of the newly installed J turns. As always, be safe in your travels.

In other words we need more money so we are going to be writing tickets for "safety".

Thanks Sheriff's Dept. As a Bishopville resident who drives the back roads almost daily a day doesn't go by where someone is going so fast that they come over into my lane on the curves. If not for my careful driving and me slowing down I would be getting hit on a regular basis.
