You do realize that pictures and videos carry a time and location stamp right? Your (some) phones can show you all your pictures on a map.
Just in case I'm putting all my AAA's in my gun safe from now on.

That's a Nfc chip. All they are doing is rendering the phone useless to use the nfc function.

That wire is for near field communication or NFC. The actual tracking is done in the phone via location services and terms and conditions acceptance with Google

Samsung posted a video stating that the piece behind the foil on the battery is a miniature antenna that enables you to transfer videos and photos to your computer or TV.
