Harvesters join together to support Hogan-Rutherford

CAMBRIDGE, MD — September 16, 2014 — Eastern Shore farmers and watermen will join together in support of gubernatorial candidate Larry Hogan on September 28, 2014 at Sailwinds Park in Cambridge from 1 – 5 pm. The event will include local produce and steamed crabs harvested by area farmers and watermen.

Larry Hogan said, "I am honored by the overwhelming support I have received from Maryland's farmers and watermen and I look forward to connecting with them about the issues that have affected their industries over the last eight years. It's obvious that Anthony Brown and the current administration have declared a war on rural Maryland, making it extremely difficult for our two most historic industries to grow and be successful in our state. In the Hogan-Rutherford administration, the agriculture and seafood industries will always have a seat at the table as we work to come up with common sense solutions that don't threaten these pillars of our economy," said Hogan.

Hogan has a consistent record of advocacy for the farming and seafood industries in the state, and has made a number of visits to the shore to learn more about the issues from local farmers and watermen. Hogan's running mate, Boyd Rutherford, also has a background in agriculture issues, having served as the Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture under George W. Bush.

The Harvesters for Hogan event will be located at 200 Byrne Street in Cambridge. Tickets are $25 or $30 at the door. Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to RSVP by September 25 to Martin Tolley, (410) 397-3710; Linda Spicer, (410) 228-3366; or Libby Nagel, (410) 430-1045. Tickets can also be purchased at https://donate.hoganforgovernor.com/harvesters-united. Checks can be made payable to "Larry Hogan for Governor," and mailed to Larry Hogan for Governor, 2635 Riva Rd., Suite 100, Annapolis MD 21401.

Voting for this ticket. Farmers have their finger on the pulse of what is really going on. People don't realize how much farmers know about the world and world trade.
