House Approves Marijuana Decriminalization; How Your Delegate Voted

The Maryland House of Delegates tonight approved a bill to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana.

The vote was 78-55.

The vote came at the end of about two hours of floor debate, after the House Judiciary Committee removed language from the bill that would have forced lawmakers to study the issue for two years before voting on the bill.

The bill would eliminate criminal charges for possessing small amounts of marijuana and reduce the offense to the severity of a traffic violation.

The Senate has already approved a similar measure.

Delegate intimidation rules the day.The time when the powers that be could vote on an issue unimpeded by threats of repercussion are long gone.
