There are people who complain about things and and then there are those who do things in the world. Amazing.

A few weeks ago we attended a benefit for an Amish man who is having some health issues in Dover DE. It was chicken and dumplings, lima beans, cole slaw, pie, ice cream, coffee, tea and water. It was all you could eat and no set price. They said donations were appreciated. They were also selling baked goods at $3-$4. It was at a farm and they had tables set up in an outbuilding. You ate on real dishes and used stainless utensils. They had a makeshift kitchen set up in the outbuilding to wash the dishes and keep the food warm before it was hauled to chafing dishes in the buffet lines.
Next benefit is April 25. Same farm except grilled chicken, salad, baked beans and pie and ice cream. This is to benefit a new schoolhouse that needs to be built.
Anyone interested it's at the Dan J Miller residence. 5790 Halltown Rd Hartly DE It's between Marydel and Pearsons Corner. The benefit starts at 4 and runs until the food runs out or 8pm-which ever comes first.

The Amish are truly amazing people. I love to visit Lancaster and see just how functional the entire community is. Everyone seems to have a certain job and it gets done. You see children that are 7 or 8 years old that are more responsible than most seniors in high school.

6:15 Thanks for the information. The Amish are also great cooks!

You are welcome 6:46. The young adults within the Amish community are amazing as well. As young as 16 they can talk intelligently about investing, finance, commodities, current events, politics and other topics that don't seem to interest young people of other cultures but are very important in becoming self sufficient productive citizens.
In Oct they have a huge all day auction to benefit the Amish schools in Dover area. Lots of food served including fresh out of the fryer donuts. I will post that info or send it to Joe when I find out the exact date set for this year.
