Police Brutality | Long Beach, CA

WARNING The violence in this video may be disturbing to some viewers

Police say it started with a fight over a beer can outside a liquor store. Suspect Porfirio Santos Lopez threw punches toward a group of men. The suspect's sister started crying when she saw her brother's bloodied face. He is now at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. His family says he's suffering from broken bones, cuts, and a collapsed lung.

What did he do , kill someone?

In Wicomico County we would have just shot him.

while i detest police brutality and rail against it every chance i get, this video is not and example of such.
that guy had multiple, multiple opportunities to lay on his stomach and stop resisting.
Cops used a lot more restraint than i probably would have.
billy clubs and tazers are much better than shooting the guy.
maybe next time, the guy will listen.

instead of shooting these pigs with a camera, they should have shot them with something else.

and the two above posters as well.

Always the cops fault! Let's not hold the "victim" responsible for not complying to an officers demands. He deserved every second of that. Too many people who weigh emotion over common sense and responsibility. That's why we had the Trayvon case. This nation has a severe estrogen problem, men and women.

yes, it usually is the cops fault, especially lately. maybe they have a steroid problem.

I counted at least TEN cops on this guy and they beat the hell out of him !! they tazed sevearl times there was no reason for these PIGS to keep hitting him. For Gods sake they had enough power there to roll him and cuff him. Don't worry Salisbury and surrounding areas this action by the cops is already here it's just the media is not reporting it. The people of this country had better start reigning in on these rouge cops before its too late .

THANK YOU @ 9:23 for saying what I was thinking the whole time I was watching this horrifying video...there was plenty of man power to roll him over and cuff him. If the guy is intoxicated (open beer can outside the store) then maybe he wasn't coherent enough to comply. Either way, these guys were on a power trip and beat that man wrongfully. disgusting. That is police brutality at its finest.

Good job officers we need more like you !

9:23 and 9:46, I have seen so many videos regarding police brutality and unnecessary force, and most of the time I feel that it was harsh, but sometimes necessary. I completely agree with you on this one. Being tasered and beaten so severely-well-I probably wouldn't be able to roll over either...They all should lose their jobs, and I am not a fan of people losing their jobs, but the police who stood by and watched this seemed to be enjoying this. They have no business on the force. They could have rolled him over and cuffed him, and that would have been it. No, they instead tortured and tried to humiliate him so it seems. Sad time here in our country. Scary time here in our country.

They, think they're entitled to
constantly lazer & beat this man
after he's down & not moving!!!
I hope all of them get suspended--
they make me sick!!!
If he'd been resisting & fighting
back---then there's a need to bring
him under control.In this case----
it certaininly shows it was NOT
needed. I hope he sues the H---
out of the officers that continually beat & lazered him!!

It is all fun and games posting on a blog until you or a relative is on the receiving end of a blue beat down. I'm old enough to remember when police officers were members of the community, known by name and treat people with respect as they did the officer. As a child, I trusted the police and would have sought them out in the event of trouble. Today it is a different story, military attire and tactics, shoot first and make the general public fear any interaction with law enforcement. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. I have many contacts with various levels of law enforcement (local/state and federal) and have seen the changes in attitudes and actions over the past 10-15years. I trust none of them when it comes to my safety.

"I trust none of them when it comes to my safety..."

I'd be willing to bet they will be the first ones you call when you have a problem.

you run with the bulls, expect to get the horns.
the mere fact that you are worried about being on the other side of that blue line tells the rest of us all we need to know about you and yours.

I have no problem with this. Do as they say and you won't get preferential treatment.

He is a criminal, what's the big deal? Have we got to keep coddling the thugs? And you wonder why your house gets broken into or someone knocks you out.

Look at the cop haters above talking about being a cop killer. ^^^^

My guess is you got busted for breaking the law and you now hate cops. You are a puss hiding behind Anonymous.

Have never called 911 in my life. A firm believer in taking care of business personally and no one in my family has ever been arrested. What you failed to comprehend from my post is that things have changed and LEO is no longer here to protect and serve. I don't live in the city, have enough property to have my own range and was stocked up way before the the run on ammo.

Total cruelty and torture. Time to get out the rifle and take out a few of these a--holes. What a shame that out law officers have come to, to "Protect and to serve".

Trash is trash, period.

Im with you there. Todays cops are not cops. They are punks with a certification from some community college and some pd needed some warm bodies to hang a badge on.

They dont respect themselves much less anyone else. You know it has to have gotten bad for the people on the shore to bad mouth cops.

Was never that way before this new breed of cops were pushed through the academy. There used to be standards, but like everything else, the bar was lowered to accept anybody.

And thats what we are stuck with.
