I got the alert on my phone so I looked this Timothy Virts guy up on MD Judiciary Case search. He's got a pretty healthy rap of assault charges, drug possession, custody cases and alcohol charges - all of which were nolle pros'ed. Now a child is missing because the system can't do its job to keep people like this off the streets. This guy has hardly received a slap on the wrist for the crimes he's committed. If you aren't appropriately punished for your crimes and the consequences for your actions aren't upheld then what is stopping you from committing future crimes?

The failed system at its finest...

If he is her bio dad and estranged husband of the childs mother, what would the consequences be if and when he is caught? If the girl is found unharmed and well taken care of will her abductor be treated the same as if he was not related to her whatsoever?

I agree 12:17. The worst is when these jerks end up killing someone, all the officials act so outraged when the handwriting's been on the wall all along.
Thomas Leggs (Sarah Foxwell murderer) is a classic example. He was out on bail for literally getting caught with his pants down around his ankles after breaking into a woman's home in OC. Leggs was on 2 state's sexual offender list and was still released on bail! It was very clear he was a time bomb. It was during this period he went on to murder Sarah Foxwell, obviously because he wanted to get rid of the witness this time.

This could be a custody case where he will not harm her, but that cannot be assumed. Even if he is caught and she is not harmed, the courts regard a custody violation of this nature as an abduction, period.

It's possible he's an uncle, too.

Bottom line: for the sake of the child, do not assume the best. Many children are harmed by their own parents and relatives for many reasons, such as revenge against the custodial parent.

I pray this is not the case and that the father/relative has no intention of harming her.
