Wicomico Recreation, Parks & Tourism Honors Volunteers

(Salisbury, MD) Each year, community members dedicate over 4,000 hours of time to Wicomico Recreation, Parks and Tourism programs and events. These volunteers, who are working to make a positive difference in Wicomico County, were honored at the annual Volunteer Appreciation and Sportsmanship Awards Banquet on Tuesday, December 3 at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center.

Nearly 25 volunteers were nominated this year by their peers. Based on the nominations submitted, the Recreation Commission selected 14 award recipients. A silent auction was also held to raise money for the Happy Timers Club, a recreation program for adults ages 50+.

Award recipients included:

Outstanding Tourism Volunteer – Ellen Bethel
Outstanding Citizen Volunteer – Jennifer Bushman
Outstanding Civic/Booster – Dor-Wic American Legion Post 218
Outstanding Community Volunteer – Dale Dechert
Outstanding Youth Volunteer – Monica Dashield
Outstanding Recreation Council Volunteer – Ron and Donna Wilkosz
Environmental Improvement Volunteer – Jim Insley
Youth Coach Sportsmanship – David Dorr
Youth Sportsmanship – Cheyenne Harvill
Lorne C. Rickert Lifetime Volunteer – Rand Thaw
