RON GEORGE STANDS WITH COMMON CORE PROTESTORS

Annapolis, Md. – In union with the Common Core protestors in Baltimore this morning, Republican gubernatorial candidate Ron George has issued the following statement:

“I stand with today's protestors against Common Core and promise as Governor I will repeal this failure. Common Core is a federal mandate that takes away local say over education and dumbs down our standards even in high achieving schools. The O’Malley/Brown administration committed to Common Core before the official curriculum or testing were known. Now we know, and it is bad. The 10th Amendment was written to promote competition, making each state an incubator for ideas. I am calling on the O'Malley/Brown administration to back out of Common Core and keep the federal government from dictating lower standards for our Maryland schools.”
