New Afghanistan Deal: Obama To Apologize; US Troops There Indefinitely

President Barack Obama will apologize to the Afghan people under a security agreement that will keep U.S. troops in Afghanistan well beyond 2014 at a cost of billions to American taxpayers.

NBC News has obtained a draft of the security pact that shows the United States would pay to maintain multiple military outposts in Afghanistan indefinitely and pay to support hundreds of thousands of Afghan security forces.

Also, Reuters is reporting that Obama has agreed to write a letter of apology to the Afghan people acknowledging mistakes made during the "war on terror" and the suffering of the Afghan people.

The letter is to be presented along with the draft at the meeting of tribal elders that is due to start on Thursday and run for several days.

Bring back the draft!
Make every (including current president) politician's child eligible for the draft (including the females for equality)!
See how fast these people back off!

He should be impeached regardless for his willingness to forfeit our sovereignty.....

The get out of jail FREE word of the 21rst century, I apologize. It means nothing to a liar and those that support his corrupt way of government. Bozo the Lying Clown has NO shame and is NOT qualified to shovel dog****.

LOL you loons are just too funny AND sooooooo predicatable.

315:
"these people could have a life", could have swore we went in to prevent another 9/11. If this was about the afghan people, we could have attacked the taliban LONG before the well-publicized brutal ascent to power. Apologies to you for sipping the war kool aid.

"commit our money to this hell [hole]"' so ten years and 100's of billions of dollars doesn't qualify as "commit" in your book?

"all the soldiers that gave [their] life", we mourn and honor the loss of our soldiers. Yet you can combine the number of US combat deaths with the number of US deaths on 9/11 and this number will still pail in comparison to the estimates of Afghan civilian casualties caused by US strikes. Yet you think a simple apology is too much to offer the people?

And for the rest of you whiners, maybe you should recall the multiple apologies offered up by Reagan and Bush over similar matters, including apologies to muslim countries. Get a clue people.

4:38 Reagan and Bush never lied to the American people. Face it, Obama is a sick person and would not know the truth if you put it on his teleprompter. And, with Obama being President, I apologize for being an AMERICAN. You should be ashamed of yourself for pretending to be an American.

4:38....good points....the main thing we should keep in mind is this --- the current Afghan government is nothing but an entrenched gangster family. Instead of allowing his people to either submit or revolt, we are now going to provide the "muscle" to protect the largest heroin producers on the planet. They will make BILLIONS while the U.S. taxpayers fork over billions in 'protection' money. Let those goons pay for their own security. We cannot continue to prop up petty dictators. But the power of the military-industrial complex drowns out any shouts of common sense and pain from American taxpayers. Keep cheering, you lemmings. It's a LOT easier than dragging our OWN petty dictators out in the street and giving them what is long overdue. Yeah, I said it...

438, and by the way, the word is [pale], Aside from the fact that we never should have gone to Iraq or Afghanistan or many other countries over there in order to pi$$ off enough people to cause 9/11 to happen to us, you are correct.

"All the waste in a year from a nuclear power plant can be stored under a desk"

"It's silly talking about how many years we will have to spend in the jungles of Vietnam when we could pave the whole country and put parking stripes on it and still be home by Christmas."

527, who offered these gems? Please get off your ideological high horse. It's people like you that believe in the "he's the devil while my political side is always right" mantra that are wearing this country down to the ground

There have been over 2189 fatalities and over 17,790 wounded in Afghanistan and about 80% of these deaths and wounded have occurred under Obama ! With no nightly casuality figures broadcast over the nightly news. One major incident occurred on 08/06/2011 when 22 navy seals were killed, many of them had participated in the raid that was reported by the White House to have killed Osama? I believe we have had more Americans killed and wounded in Afghanistan then in Iraq!!!

>>>never should have gone to Iraq or Afghanistan or many other countries over there in order to pi$$ off enough people to cause 9/11<<< Huh? I think you have it a little backwards. The incursions into Iraq and Afghanistan came AFTER 9/11.
