Will Liberals Scream Over The Sentence Of David Watson?

Back in January of 2013 David Watson was arrested in connection of shooting at a Delaware Police Officer's home as well as homes of Officers in Wicomico County.

Today David Watson was sentenced to more than 100 years. Does the punishment fit the crime?

you shouldn't be shooting at ANYBODY'S house!! that stupid POS could have killed or crippled somebody doing something that brainless, somebody that dumb can't be rehabilitated and should be put in a hole and never seen again. that fact that it was a cops house doesn't mean doodly-squat, cops are no more important than anybody else, they only think they are.

We'll see in the appeal.

What about his Priors Joe? Screw this guy.

The first thing I'd like to know is, how did these guys get the names and addresses of all of these Police Officers?

Secondly, this should send a clear message, don't screw with law enforcement officers.

Many of us grew up knowing, you screw with a cop your looking at a LOT of time in jail. Where I grew up, you shoot a cop, don't expect to ever get the chance to be tried in a court of law because you'll end up in a morgue first.

Today, law enforcement has to deal with liberal laws and are too afraid of getting sued because of excessive force.

IMHO, you shoot at a cop and or especially at their home where spouses and children are present, this is what you get. The punishment fits the crime in my opinion.

Let me say this as well. There are some people who just don't belong in society, this is one of them. My hat is tipped to the Honorable Judge.

seriously? They probably wouldn't have gotten that much time if they would have killed a cop. total bs!

Joe
Im sure they just drove around and looked for the officers car parked in the driveway.

Agreed, and I'll go one further. It won't be just the houses they will be shooting at.

What I see is a corrupt system protecting it's own.

How many stories have we seen about these same cops shooting and killing unarmed citizens, children playing with their BB guns, double amputees in wheelchairs, people's docile unsuspecting dogs.., it goes on and on. Quite honestly, I feel most of your comments are uttered out of fear you'll be singled out and hunted down by these manhunters.

Good strong message to any potential wannabees. Should have been sentenced to death. A spectacular example of true human garbage and what happens when you become a cancer on the body of society. Hope he rids himself from the planet real soon. A truly defined coward.

I am a stiff sentence guy but this is ridiculous. One of the previous posters said " He could have..." By that think, drunk drivers should get similar sentences. There are first degree murders that have gotten much less. The police officers are the same as us. I think we enter a dangerous area when we start valuing the life of certain people more than others. They(police) should be paid well and have provisions to care for their families in the case of their death because their job is a dangerous one. The law should be applied equally to everyone. By the same token certain people who get in trouble should not receive a lighter sentence just based on who they are(IE Davis Ruark, Chris Nunzio). 20-30 years is the norm for attempted murder in Maryland. The fact that the potential victims were cops should make no difference

anonymous 1:51, once you take on that mentality it becomes open season on police officers.

YOU and everyone else reading this knows they have not only REFUSED to become a police officer, YOU depend on them each and every day.

This job has serious risks and the rest of YOU need to learn there is a different kind of penalty when you attempt to take the life and or family member of law enforcement.

Look, it DOES go both ways. Unlike most of you, (99.9%) I sat in a court room when a plea arrangement was offered to the Judge for an local Officer who admitted to sexual abuse of a minor. The Judge REFUSED the plea arrangement because they felt children are to trust police officers, teachers and clergy more so than any other human being out there.

That Judge was right then and this Judge is right now. As I stated earlier, there are some people who just don't belong in society, period.

So I respectfully disagree with your comment.

You mean like the open season the cops have enjoyed on innocents, kids, women, pets? With some even handcuffed?

It does indeed go both ways Joe. They reap what they sow. If they can't handle the 'tough' job, resign, take a vacation, retire, anything.

I am so tired of hearing this 'walk a mile in my shoes' bull crap. Nobody forced either one to put on that badge. They became cops for their own reasons, and most not honorable I would venture to say.

So please spare us the it's a tough, unappreciated, sacred calling job garbage.

Cops, like any other public servant, serve at our pleasure. All of them can, and have, been easily replaced.

Hey Joe, How about politicians, Lawyers, Judges, doctors,Jury members, State's witnesses or military. Should stiffer sentences be given to them assaults on them too. A case could be made that they have dangerous jobs. We depend on them too. Wack jobs like this guy would motive to kill any of the above. A life is a life. No ones life is more valuable then another. Police officers choose that work, they aren't drafted. They know the dangers. If they aren't compensated for the danger then shame on us. Your whole open season comment is complete no sense. Maybe the answer to the problem is to increase the sentence for everyone. If 100 years is the sentence for this type of crime so be it. Someone who shoots into your house should get the same sentence. The life of anyone in your house less valuable than a police officer's? I know you have a lot of cops that read this blog as do I and maybe you are currying favor with them but the law must be applied equally to everyone regardless of position. For every example you give me about a judge that has a moment of clarity and refuses a BS plea, I can give you an example of a ridiculous plea where a molester gets 90 days. How does a person get to 11 DUI's? It happens. I agree with stated trust issue with certain professions and I would add several more to the list. I guess we just agree to disagree

He should be executed immediately along with any other cop killer.

My thoughts here is that my life, being a middle class worker, is worth the same as any police, fire, lawyer, prosecutor, McDonald's Ace Hardware employe's is worth.

Everything.

You come by and shoot up my house, and you should get 200 years, or death in the morning.

How could any judge feel differently, unless corrupt?

I believe some people are missing the point:
If harsh penalties aren't handed down for assault on a cop and publicized then the criminals will have NO hesitation to confront, thereby adding a dangerous variable in the cop's safety, situational evaluation and reaction to the confrontation. Then those same people will be complaining about the result.

Lee, come on now. Many of the people you mention do not put their lives on the line every day to protect YOU. Bottom line, they didn't shoot at homes you mention. They shot at Officers homes.

The cop didn't go anywhere did he?

Lee said...

Joe- You missed my point. My point is that these people could be in the "open season" you referred to on cops. No they don't risk their lives to protect us but they could be targeted for some of the same reason as the cops. We will just agree to disagree that one person's life is more valuable than another's simply because of the profession they chose.

Cops do not protect ANYONE other than themselves, nor is there any obligation for them to do so, so says the SCOTUS.

They do protect property though. As it stands in current times, you face a better chance of getting hurt or killed by a cop than you do from a thug/criminal.

Police are being trained to attack first before being attacked and work it out in the courts. That's why so many civilians and pets are being killed.
