WATER MAIN BREAK

As part of Salisbury Public Works’ ongoing effort to keep the public informed of repairs within the City of Salisbury, be advised that at approximately 10:00 a.m. today, there was a 6” water main break at 2350 North Salisbury Boulevard.

City of Salisbury Public Works has turned off 2 valves to contain the water flow until it is repaired. Arby’s and BB&T Bank have been notified that their water services will be disrupted for approximately five (5) hours. One lane east bound on Centre Road will be maintained by flaggers.

The City of Salisbury is making every effort to fix this water main break in a timely manner. Contact Public Works Water & Sewer Branch at 410-548-3105.

What's up with this? Every other week Salisbury has a water main break.

Old old pipes is whats up with it.Some of those mains are unheard of sizes, therefore requiring a total replacement from beginning to end.

Old pipes? Sounds like you all have a bunch of dunces running the show in Salisbury. If the pipes are so old that they are breaking ever other week that's something that needed to addressed like yesterday. Instead the mayor's all jazzed up over a pile of crushed concrete at the old mall. What gives there? Is he blind or something? Not so long ago I went to Salisbury with a friend to help clear out a relative's house who moved into an assisted living facility. I thought I was in the "hood" the area was so trashed. The neighborhood scared me and it was broad daylight.

Yeah a water main break. hundreds of them happen everyday all over the world. it is not just a Salisbury thing. don't be surprised when the next one happens.

You don't get out much do you 4:31? When the last time one broke in Ocean City? Huh?
Every heard of something called infrastructure and the need to maintain it?
Bottom line-and there are no if's and's or but's about it-Salibury has an inordinate number of these breaks which points to one and only one thing-poor leadership-Period.
That's the problem with you people 4:31 and why Salisbury is the armpit of the Eastern Shore. You have such low standards. Just because water mains break "all over the world" doesn't mean you all should settle for it happening every other week.

Salisbury is pathetic and they are probably still using the hollowed out log water mains from the 1800's.

are you mad about the water main break, leadership in Salisbury, or the overall condition of the eastern shore? what are you really griping about?

I'm griping about the overall condition of Salisbury. It used to be a nice decent place to go shopping, visit the doctor or take care of other business. Now the place is falling apart not only the infrastructure but the robberies and other crime, and the overall condition of many of the neighborhoods and there is no excuse for it except leadership has been asleep at the wheel.

And one more thing I have a D2 water license issued by MDE. I have worked on cast iron, C900, ductile iron, PVC, schedule 40 & 80 pipes. performed wet tapping, pipe installation, pipe repair, value replacements. The list goes on. From Baltimore to crisfield for almost 15 years. so if you think you know more than me about water main breaks and I don't think you do. do not talk about things you do not know about.

I agree with you on that. the only way to get anything done is to go to a town hall meeting. I used to live in Salisbury, crime was one of many factors why I left.

Is the water main piping up by the "New Mall" that old? If it is, then the rest of the pipes in Salisbury are ready to break right now! I guess 20 years is all to be expected out of a water main???? Sounds more like poor installation procedures to me...
