Bus Crash Sends Six Children To Hospital, Seaford

Location: Cool Branch Road west of Kaye Road, Seaford, DE

Six students from Seaford School District ranging from 10 to 17 years old

Seaford, DE- The Delaware State Police are investigating a bus crash that occurred earlier this afternoon east of Seaford.

The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. as Susan M. Burgess was operating a 2008 Freightliner School Bus southeast on Cool Branch Road entering a slight curve just west of Kaye Road. For unknown reasons, the bus left the right side of the roadway on the curve and into a farm field where it became stuck in the mud. Six students from Seaford School District were transported from the scene by EMS to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Burgess, who was properly restrained, was not injured and was cited for Failure to Maintain a Single Lane and No Proof of Insurance.

Traffic in the area of Cool Branch Road was impacted for approximately one hour as the crash was investigated and cleared.
