How about the NAACP going against Obama today, how are those jobs working out in Salisbury?

Here is good news I just saw on WBOC for a change. Good for Terry Cohen. It looks like she called out Jim Ireton for abusing his power as mayor and breaking the law.

Terry Cohen: "You've Got A Mayor Who's Gone Rogue"

Posted: Feb 01, 2013 5:45 PM EST Updated: Feb 01, 2013 6:17 PM EST

By Kody Leibowitz - email

SALISBURY, Md. - The City Council is refusing to pay the acting Fire Chief.

We're told the temporary extension for acting Chief Rick Hoppes ended on January 22nd. Council President Terry Cohen is asking Mayor Jim Ireton to "cease and desist immediately with the use of my signature on payroll disbursements."

"I think we need to discuss what needs to be done for the good of the city, but as I said before, you've got a mayor who's gone rogue and is not enforcing the law that he swore he would uphold."

Cohen says the employee handbook states the acting status term shall not exceed six months without the approval of council. An emergency meeting is scheduled for Monday.

Actually that was WMDT 7:10pm, but that is still good news. Now lets get rid of the acting mayor along with the acting fire chief.

If Jimbeau is forging checks, where the heck is the States Attorney?

Anonymous said...

Two jerks together.

Jimbeau didn't want Hoppes 2 years ago so what makes him want Hoppes now? Silly me all Jimbeau wants to do is start a fight with the council majority. Do we want 4 more years of that? Hell no we had 16 years of it and we are sick and tired of a dysfunctional city. Vote Albero and Campbell for the good of the city.

THAT IS SO RIGHT! HE JUST USED HOPPES. IF THE FIRE DEPT. WANTS TO BE P.O.'D, DO IT AT IRETON!

From the outside, I don't see what's so good about Hoppes anyway. Just same old fire dept. with same old ways and spend, spend, spend.

Joe, you got great stuff up with the One on One show, the forum, the letter on what's going on with the fire chief.

Keep it up all weekend. Friday nights are slow because people are out. But this is some of the most informative stuff I have seen.

Kudos.

Everybody take a breath don't hammer the fire dept chief, hammer the mayor in his lies to the council for crying out loud just saying lets lay the blame where it falls.

8:17 two jerks really you must be a mayor x mayor lover ... grow up you are the type of person that is the reason why country is screwed... PS do you even have a job in Salisbury? because when even the president shuts down the jobs corp and the NAACP regrets voting for the president because NOTHING has changed for them i say this i was a x union democrat but you know what when i see this country going down hill and politicians that respect other country's before America guess what i do not want nothing to do with a party that sells AMERICA down the river and that's what exactly whats happening so if i where you i would vote for whats good for AMERICA ..remember why everyone loves AMERICA in the first place?

10:42, who's "hammering" the chief? One guy said he wasn't all that good, but he didn't go crazy.

Looks like everyone here is blaming the fool of a mayor for his lies.

Joe...great interview... I am a small developer, and would welcome some more common sense, and more straight-forwardness from Public Works. While some of the issues are State of Maryland regulations, i.e. Storm Water Management, it really has become impossible to obtain permits.

Joe, you have my vote. As a business owner in Salisbury (city limits) it has become harder and harder to survive and seeing all the empty buildings that housed businesses that have either closed down/moved away due to the "unfriendly" way Salisbury looks at business owners (except for Sprawlsbury Universitywho it taking over the city and county and brining in less and less tax revenue) Ireton is too busy running back and forth to Rehoboth Beach and hanging out at MoJos's getting plastered and forgets the importance of bringing business back to downtown - and instead wants to raise our taxes to keep up with the decreased revenue. You're the man Joe for the position of Mayor of Salisbury and thanks for all your hard work !

Great job, Joe. Ireton has no plan to buiild business in Salisbury except to give it away to his buddies at our expense.

Does he realize the harm he has done to this city by bitching about the council on every single little thing to make him look like a victim so he can blame his failures on somebody else? (His mouthpiece, the Daily Times, too.)

A leader would meet with his opponents and then emerge with a smile to the world about what they've been able to achieve together.

That will be you, Joe. The Daily Times will shrivel up and die without the controversy to sell papers. Salisbury will grow and prosper without the bad press. Then maybe Salisbury will attract one important business - a real newspaper!

First of all he is not the fire department chief, he is the acting chief and as of this notice it sounds like he will be demoted. Second no on his hammering him. Obviously the man doesn't have the credentials and he has some baggage or he would have been confirmed by the city council. It has nothing to do with Ireton's choice because they confirmed all of the other appointments from Ireton. They are making the right decision on this one.

Maybe I am wrong, but I believe 8:17 was referring to the acting mayor and acting fire chief as being the two jerks.

You are exactly correct on this one. Wrong man for the position and he should not have been employed any longer.

It looks like Jake Day has pulled a page out of the Bubba Comegys Playbook. He has planted numerous campaign signs on the new section of Beaglin Park Drive. This is city and county property and he does not have permission to plant his campaign signs on government property. Proof that he and his few helpers are crooked.
