Some Subway ‘Footlong’ Subs Don't Measure Up

They deserve a knuckle sandwich.

Stingy Subway sandwich honchos are shorting customers by serving 11-inch “Footlong” subs, hungry New Yorkers say.

The Post discovered that the city’s lunchtime crowds are getting short-changed after a muckraking Australian revealed the company’s famous “Five-dollar Footlongs” were smaller than advertised.

Four out of seven Footlongs — purchased at Subway locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens — measured only 11 or 11.5 inches, according to the test.

And that’s not the only corner Subway is cutting — the shops have sliced their cold-cut sizes by 25 percent in the past few months, a Manhattan franchise owner told The Post.

I am sure that the "pre-cooked" length of the rolls was 12 inches or more. It is no different than 1/4 pound hamburger is the "pre-cooked" weight. Let's focus our battles on things that are a little more important. Like the guy that was in front of me at Skip Jacks the other day with a brand new Harley Davidson edition 4 door pickup that was buying a bushel of crabs and steamed shrimp with an Independence Card. (which should be re-titled "Dependence Card")

Everytime we see people doing this kind of thing with food stamps on the taxpayer's dime it should be reported to the toll-free hotline number, and also to the AG's office.

I didn't think you could buy prepared food with food stamps. Of course there is a lot of fraud that takes place. Frequently it's just as much the fault of the retailer.

Wrong.bread expands when baked.

Most of their meats aren't "real", their ham, salami, bacon, and bologna aren't made with pork, rather they are made with "turkey bone scrapings".

The meat is sliced days to weeks ahead and is slimy.

The lettuce has a horrible chemical wash flavor, and is bagged way ahead of time. Wouldn't be surprised the chemical flavor is from a retardant to keep it from spoiling.

The bread smells like wet socks.

I don't understand who eats there when you have Primo Hoagies (Thumann's deli meats) or Trax (Dietz & Watson) who both make excellent subs with quality meats.

It is legal to buy crabs with Food Stamps. The retailer is supposed to charge for Steaming. Unfortunately, I did not see any cash exchange hands.I saved my money for a special occasion to buy crabs for a going away party for somebody. I think it is wrong for people to be able to buy steamed crabs with my money, when I have to save to do it myself. You could feed a child for 2 weeks for what a bushel of crabs costs. 2:45, you right...I stand corrected, but I still think it is nit picky to worry about a 1/2 inch of bread. You still get the same number of slices of meat and cheese.

What are the prices at Primo Hoagies? Twice that of Subway.

This is a serious topic for discussion? Really?

Our country is broke. Our government wants to disarm us. Unemployment remains high. Healthcare is a disaster. We have to choose between gas, food and medicine.

But we want to scream about a half inch of bread at a sub shop? (Or an inch, whatever it is)

There isn't a day that goes by without one of our service members killing themselves.

You can't walk down any city street without fear of being robbed, assaulted, raped or killed.

If you get sick or hurt you worry about whether you can afford to get help or medicine.

You wonder if you have enough gas to get you to work the rest of the week, IF you are lucky enough to have a job in the first place.

BUT, you draw the line at not having an exact 12 inches of bread on your sub?!

6:18.... don't be mean to all the fat ace people who will KILL over that extra 1/2 inch of food they shouldn't be eating anyway...

Mean? I'm not being mean to them.

I mean, it's not like I'm taking away any of their rights or nothing along those lines.

They can still order food from a vendor...right now.

Until, in the name of national security.........

Just what IS the average foot size? I'm pretty sure that Size 12 is a lot rarer than Sizes 8-10, so "foot long" might be a totally truthful description of how long the sub can be!

Just sayin'

Right there is a perfect example of what our government wants people to be like.

Our public school system has done an excellent job of dumbing him down. Just what politicians want.

There are many like him and the number grows each and every year.

The last two presidential races prove that. Or maybe I should say 4 races and include Bush jr.

We could have the smartest people in the world behind the best candidate for office. But the sheer number of people like 8:44am will beat us every time.

There are just too many of them. And when the 'system' has control of them for 13 years in public schools, more if the go to college, they are conditioned to say and do certain things.

More and more people are taking their kids out of public schools and home schooling them or enrolling them in private schools if they can afford them.

Students are no longer taught HOW to think. They are taught WHAT to think. Critical thinking is now an ancient art. A forgotten art too I must add.

This country has lost its' way, but not by accident.

At the risk of being labeled a tinfoil hat wearing conspiracist, there are conspiracies afoot in this country. And they have been here a long, long time.

They want control. Total control. Of everything. Of the economy, religion, food supply, education, courts, positions of power, anything you could think of.

They create chaos so they can come in and fix the chaos. Then they are seen as ones who can fix our problems and we give them more power.

Until they have it all and we cannot function without them and without them telling us what to do and when to do it.

We need to stop bickering with each other, ridiculing each other, etc., and roll our sleeves up and put our heads together to fix our own problems and realize we are under attack.

We need to stop fighting amongst ourselves and identify and target our real enemies.

If the american people would come together as one, we would have a force no one could defeat.

No other government, no amount of gangs, nor the criminal element could prevail against us.

But we have to get rid of the distractions and focus on what is really important and what it is we really want.

And then take steps to acquire them and keep them.

First thing is to take back our power that we have given to others to act on our behalf.

They are not doing the job we want them to do. They are going about their own agendas.

We need to fire the politicians, the police, parts of the military and whoever else is not with us and doing our bidding.

It is a simple first step. We the people gave them their power and we the people can take it back.

After all, it belongs to us.

Now, chew on that and wrap your brain around it until you fully understand what needs to be done and are willing to do it.

It's going to take an effort of all of us to succeed. Not just a few here and there. Not just hoping someone will do it for us.

WE have to do it. And it has to be fully resolved in our heart before we begin. Or else we will falter and not finish what we start.

Talk about it with people you trust. Pray about it. And as the bible says, count the cost.

You either want to be free or you don't. There is no middle ground.

Peace.
