An Annapolis company whose old-fashioned trolleys are iconic in the city's wedding scene has abandoned the nuptial industry rather than serve same-sex couples.
The owner of Discover Annapolis Tours said he decided to walk away from $50,000 in annual revenue instead of compromising his Christian convictions when same-sex marriages become legal in Maryland in less than a week. And he has urged prospective clients to lobby state lawmakers for a religious exemption for wedding vendors.
While most wedding businesses across the country embraced the chance to serve same-sex couples, a small minority has struggled to balance religious beliefs against business interests.

I'm with you 10:08pm. They should be able to serve whomever they wish and refuse to do so, based on their religion.
dittos to all 3 of you...but it's a shame they have to quit. their really should be exceptions. we surely live in a liberal state.
All business's can refuse service at their discretion. Maybe the hassle and attacks just aren't worth it. How many same sex marriages can there be anyway, once the initial wave crests? They could always use Queer A-- Wedding Chapel I guess.
A competitor will gladly take their business.

All this reminds me on the 60's when we had the race riots. People will always find something they don't agree with.
That's life. Don't spend your life hating someone for their beliefs. Use your life to be happy and make others happy.

Smart move and I guarantee he makes more than the $50,000 he will lose in wedding business by others booking his service with the same beliefs. A very smart business move and he will become iconic for sticking with his beliefs.
And 10:39 don't you have any principles you believe in? This has nothing to do with hate. Don't you believe in standing up to what you believe in or are you a follower who does what you are constantly told to do even if you don't believe in it?
Wobbling and falling and bending to every whim is a character flaw and a sign of a weak person.

It is not for us to judge anyone right or wrong. Someone bigger will take care of it if it needs to be taken care of.

Reality is that truly "religious" people do stand out for their uniquness in not being followers. They are separate from "the world" and walk a whole other walk than the majority of the world and refuse to bend to corruption. They follow what is in their heads and in their hearts and not what may be popular or politically correct at the time. They have a philosphical belief that guides them.

Hebrews 5:14
tells us that the spiritually mature are "those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."
Also in Romans 12:9 it says to "hate what is evil, cling to what is good." In order to do that you have to judge between evil and good.
