There Is Such A Thing As The Milk Cliff: If Congress Doesn’t Act Soon, Prices Could Double

For the apparently shrinking amount of milk drinkers out there, we’ve got some bad news: There’s a thing called the Milk Cliff, and we’re standing on it. If Congress doesn’t act on a new farm bill that amends a policy from 1949, the price of a gallon of milk could increase and possibly even double.

So people will not eat as much cereal and because of supply and demand, cereal prices will fall. Pancake mix will go up in price because more people are buying it. Then, when people stop buying milk the price will drop, simple supply and demand. The Government should stay out of it all together and the market will regulate it's self.

Agreed 10:39......corporate welfare by any other name (such as farm subsidies) is still corporate welfare. Everone keeps saying that the free market has failed. If it has failed, it has failed because it has been manipulated by government intervention. There hasn't been a level playing field in over 100 years. Let's go over the fiscal cliff. Let the chips fall where they will and we will once again have local mom and pop shops, local produce, local milk, and manufacturing right here in the good ol' U.S. of A. Then....so the same mistakes aren't made again....limit imports as a matter of national security (including immigrants), reduce taxes across the board, eliminate subsidies, and let the market rise and fall on it's own merits. That way good business decisions will be rewarded and bad ones will be punished.

10:47 this is 10:39. I've got an idea. You run for President and I'll be your running mate. Perhaps we could interject some common sense into our economy. The economy will always do better without Government interference.

Get a clue... the govt is just conditioning you to be paying more than you need to for crap... Simple as that...

the govt doesn't have a problem but what it spends...

All you dumb asses have to learn is the language the govt uses and that everything they say will help, won't and when they say they won't, they won't...

Did you know that the govt puts in a 3 to 5 percent increase in budget every year? wither they need it or not or use it or not? When the average person would consider most bills to be near the same price all the time month in and month out like a car payment... yet the govt doesn't see it that way...

Did you know that when the govt says they will cut spending by 1 trillion dollars, that means the PROJECTED SPENDING AMOUNT WILL BE LOWERED BY 1 TRILLION... What this means is, that if they were planing on spending 14.5 billion, they would take 1 trillion from that 14.5 billion and spend the rest, though it doesn't help...

If your trying to buy a car for $10k and you say you want it for $9k but only have the money for $5k, in the end is doesn't fucking matter, you can't afford it...

Just like the toll on the bay bridge, they wanted it to go from $2.50 up to $5.00 then later up to $10.00... You all bitched about it and they said OK lets compromise, and you all were like OK and they only raised it from $2.50 up to $4.00 and then later to $8.00... Well guess what, no matter if it went to $4.00 or $5.00, $8.00 or $10.00 it still WENT UP FROM $2.50 and that is still an increase, oh but you all compromised so now you all feel warm and squishy inside...

THIS IS HOW THE GOVT WORKS, THEY WILL SAY WE WILL CUT SPENDING BY 1 TRILLION DOLLARS AND ONLY SPEND 50 BILLION INSTEAD, BUT IN REALITY THEY ARE NOT CUTTING ANYTHING because what they cut was projected, and they use a 3 to 5 percent increase every year for a projected budget...

POINT IS, IF YOUR BROKE AND SPENDING MORE THAN YOU TAKE IN REGARDLESS, you won't last... but a side note is the govt has a spending problem nothing else... NOTICE how they want taxes this and taxes that and fee this and fee that, yet they never CUT SPENDING EVER?

will only affect those of us who pay for food. the SIC and foodstamp program will be increased to allow those that do not work to eat better than those of us who do.

Ok. Lets look at Government intervention in the free market place. Obama bailed out G.M. and will loose billions. This was yours and my money. Now G.M is giving their employees year ending bonuses of 5500 to 7000 dollars. That's X 55000 people. That money should be turned back to the taxpayers.

To 10:47, I love how you say "let the market rise and fall on it's own merits. That way good business decisions will be rewarded and bad ones will be punished." And yet you call for the government to limit imports. So you clearly don't believe in the free market. Limiting imports (and immigrants) is simply the government interfering in the market. In fact, it's a far bigger interference in the market than most other government interventions.

You can't support limiting imports and immigrants and still say you support the free market. Tariffs and immigration restrictions are nothing more than Big Brother telling us what to buy and who to hire.
