THIS IS WHY AMERICA HAS AN ELECTORAL COLLEGE

Americans will probably know who their next president is on Tuesday night or early Wednesday, but the formal process for picking a president actually extends beyond then (and, it’s more complicated than meets the eye).
The system we’re speaking about, of course, is the ever-elusive Electoral College. Before we delve into the specifics of how it works, let’s take a trip down memory lane. After all, it’s difficult to understand the system if one knows little about its history and the original intentions behind its formulation.
HERE’S THE HISTORY OF THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE
As most Americans know, the Electoral College has the ultimate say when it comes to deciding the fate of presidential face-offs. Barring recounts or a tie between Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney, the exercise that is undertaken is largely academic — one that many Americans may not fully comprehend. The history, much like the Electoral College’s operations, is complex.

This is a sad day for America. Supposedly over one half of our country have voted to abandon the idea of a constitutional democratic republic and become another socialist third rate country with a dictator that has no regard for the constitution, individual freedom or the Judeo-Christian God. God forgive us. Unless this country collectively repents (at least the ones that call themselves Christian) I fear that we will have to relearn the lessons that brought about the founding of this country in 1776.

Well, when an accomplished decorated black veteran outlines clearly and concisely why he supports a candidate and one side disregards his opinions because of his race, I guess you might be right.

The American Electoral system is broken at best and rife with corruption, cheating, voter fraud, vote tampering at worst.

I have little faith in our current system of electing officials and I am far from alone in my position.

if you call Col1n Powell a accomplished decorated black veteran
think again he was the one that stopped us from finishing the gulf war the first time in my opinion as a retired vet. He is nothing but a coward got his rank and position the easy way

1154 your two cents are noted. Perhaps he was just wise enough to realize that the US didn't need to be bogged down cleaning up the pieces of Iraq for a decade. And since the Commander in Chief at the time, a WWII vet, appointed and stuck by him, then his veteran son apointed him in a high position as well, I think you are likely in the minority on this one.
