Jeep, An Obama Favorite, Looks To Shift Production To China

In another potential blow for the president's Ohio reelection campaign, Jeep, the rugged brand President Obama once said symbolized American freedom, is considering giving up on the United States and shifting production to China.
Such a move would crash the economy in towns like Toledo, Ohio, where Jeeps are made and supplied, and rob the community of the economic security they thought Obama's auto bailout assured them.
Obama is such a fan of Jeep that he included a picture of himself speaking at the Toledo plant in his newly released second term agendabinder. In his address to the plant in 2011, Obama said, "I just took a short tour of the plant and watched some of you putting the finishing touches on the Wrangler. Now, as somebody reminded, I need to call it the 'iconic' Wrangler. And that's appropriate because when you think about what Wrangler has always symbolized. It symbolized freedom, adventure, hitting the open road, never looking back."

Jeeps are crap. They last 4 years if that. They probally would be better if made in china, cause my Nissan is awesome and it's going on 8 years strong!

Except that's totally NOT what's happening. Jeep's parent company is expanding into China and possibly building a new plant there, and the American plants may actually get MORE production to increased sales in China. Romney lied again, and the media lets him.

lol what did you do to your Jeep to make it last 4 years? Both of the Jeeps I've owned have hit the 250K mark. Never babied, just kept trucking. In fact about to buy another one with 50K, should last me another decade without incident.

I drove military jeeps in the 50's....they haven't changed much, just a lot of window dressing. It's a truck and should be expected to operate like a truck. You can't expect to compare it with a 2000 Chrysler mini-van.

8:25 the american plants MAY get more production? Sorry, but I'll take Romney a successful businessman's word anyday over Obama the failure. Remember the "shovel ready" jobs that were going to create so much work? Remember Solandra and Obama's other schemes that were going to help the economy?
I don't know about you, but I will only get fooled once and then I wise up.

I lemoned my 2009 Jeep GC. Was a sad day. Wasn't my first Jeep but was my last. Dealing with Chrysler and our local Chrysler dealer was a nightmare. I believe they give lying classes when you are hired. Chrysler dealer in Milford did not lie though. Used to love my Jeep, not so much anymore.

8:25 get your head checked soon. This article has nothing about Romney in it, but still you accuse him of making lies, you must of confused him with Obama. And if Chrysler/Jeep is expanding to China, well, guess what, We The Taxpayers are demanding the Stimulous Bailout Money TO BE RETURNED, before any expansions, got it.?
