Google Hit With $22.5M Fine For Privacy Misstep

Google will pay a record $22.5 million fine to the FTC for essentially bypassing the privacy settings of Apple's Safari browser while telling users it wasn't tracking the websites they visited.

The agreement was announced Thursday after the FTC found Google had violated a 2011 federal settlement over its privacy practices.
