Craig Withholds County Employee Bonuses

County executive David Craig has withdrawn the $650 bonus payout due next month saying that budget action by the special session of the state Assembly has changed finances too much.

Mainly the move that shifts more responsibility to fund teacher pension plans to the counties.

Good for him. Great move on his part, now this falls back on the state.

Rumor has it Ireton will do the same to SBY employees who can get a bonus without a tax hike. Ireton doesn't have this guy's excuse.

Ireton is behaving like a spoiled brat about the employee bonuses. He has made it clear that he doesn't want the employees to get anything.

If anyone reading was told a bonus structure by their employer, met the requirements, then not given the bonus, would you say "good"?

Bonuses are better than raises in that they are not automatic and built into the following years budget. Private sector gives raises and bonuses all the time. I find it humorous how people say to run a county like a business, except when it comes to the compensation part.
