Truck Sideswipes A School Bus North Of Georgetown

Georgetown, DE- State Troopers responded to a report of a crash between a truck and a school bus early this morning.

Two students were sent to Nanticoke Hospital after the school bus they were passengers on was sideswiped by a truck. The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m. as a 2005 Blue Bird school bus, operated by Ronald L. Brittingham, 47, was traveling westbound on Wilson Hill Road east of Hunting Club Road carrying seven students to Carver School. A 1984 Dodge Ram, operated by Jacob B. Goins, 21, was eastbound on Wilson Hill Road when he lost control of his vehicle in a curve and side swiped the left side of the school bus. Both operators were able to safely bring their vehicles to a stop in the roadway after the impact.

A 17 year old and 16 year old passenger on the bus were transported to Nanticoke Hospital as a precautionary measure due to non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the bus and the pickup truck were not injured in the crash.

Goins was cited for careless driving.
