Mexican Journalist On Drug Lords: "If They're Going To Kill You, They're Going To Kill You'

MIAMI – "If they're going to kill you, they're going to kill you," said Luz del Carmen Sosa, a reporter in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, and mother of two, who spends most of her day running from one murder scene to another. "Even if you arrive surrounded by police, security escorts, whoever wants to hurt you will hurt you."

Just 20 miles from Ciudad Juarez, photojournalist Alejandro Hernández Pacheco did get hurt. On July 26, 2010, Hernandez was part of a TV news crew videotaping at a prison in the city of Gomez Palacio when he was kidnapped at gunpoint, along with two colleagues.

"They took us to a place that was covered with dried blood, with teeth and hair stuck to the walls," said Hernandez. He stopped himself from describing the room any further, saying it brings back terrifying memories.

How's THAT dug war coming along? All they need is another 50 years, 100 new prisons, a million more cops, and a trillion more dollars, and by God, they WILL prevail. See how well its working in the USA. Americans are angry that we've been "at war" in Afghanistan for over a decade and all we've done is get young men and women killed and spent a trillion dollars for NOTHING. HA! We've been "at war" on drugs for FORTY YEARS, lost THOUSANDS of men (cops and civilians), spent MORE than a trillion dollars, imprisoned MILLIONS of citizens, and guess what? ALL for nothing. There are more drugs available at cheaper prices (BETTER drugs, too) than ever before. Anywhere in the country, from the tiniest town to the biggest city, a STRANGER can find whatever he wants in 30 minutes or less. And we want to LECTURE Mexico about drugs?? That would be funny if we didn't look so stupid.

@ 8:07 I agree with 95% of what you said. But where do you think most of our drugs come from? Mexico and Colombiua I am willing to guess.

As long as the drug lords are kidnapping stupid liberal reporters, what is the problem?

10:38.....you guessed wrong, at least in part. The great majority of marijuana is cultivated and sold in the USA by Americans. Its huge. Its also the reason the potentcy levels of THC has risen to the high teens and low twenties (as measured by percentage). Cultivation and selection. Nobody buys Mexican pot anymore. Thats why when people in the know hear about the DEA or the Coast Guard busting "20 tons" of pot in a Mexican drug tunnel, they laugh. It was a diversion so 15 tons of cocaine could get through. Make the commanders in the DEA or Coast Guard look GREAT, but they are in on the scam. They get paid fat bribes and look like heroes at the same time. Thats the facts.
