Afghan Quran Protests Enter 5th Day

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - Protesters threw rocks at police, government buildings and a U.N. office in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday, kicking off a fifth day of riots sparked by the burning of Qurans at a U.S. base, officials said.

At least 25 people have been killed and hundreds wounded since Tuesday, when it first emerged that Qurans and religious materials had been thrown into a fire pit used to burn garbage at Bagram Air Field, a large U.S. base north of Kabul. President Barack Obama and other U.S. officials apologized and said it was a terrible mistake, but the incident has sent thousands to the streets in this deeply religious country.

Animals.

Honestly, the best solution for over there is to amass a huge military force, sweep the whole area and collect ever weapon not present in the stone age.

Since their culture is locked in the stone age, they have no business with such powerful weapons. Let them fight eachother with sand and sticks.

Why do we apologize for burning a book? Why do we apologize for burning materials that are viewed as garbage? Sounds to me that this is an Obamma hang up not something the United States should be apologizing about. Do these people we have shown sympathy to time and time again apologize when they burn our Bible and our flag? Call it what ever you want I don't think we (The United States of America)owe an apology to anyone!

We can accomplish the same if we go nuclear. There and in Iran. The Iranians want a nuclear weapon, I say lets give them 4 or 5 evenly distributed over Iran and Afghanistan.
It is time to be assertive.
Time to stop APOLOGIZING for burning a few books that had already been desecrated by the very people who are complaining and rioting.
NUKE UM'!!

Let's just leave those miserable bastards to themselves. Bring our troops home, place them on the Mexican border, and cut off all aid to the Afghans. And let Israel take care of Iran, problem solved. This should happen but it won't because you have a pro Muslim in the White House.

Where are all the "peaceful" muslims? Since they will claim these are all extreme muslims why are the "peaceful" ones not speaking out against this?

we can't help these extremists. get out of there and let them kill each other.

Ron Paul is the only candidate with any sense. The other ones can't grasp the concept that with these people "you can dress they up but you can't take them out." Let them deal with their own crap.

So what if Quran's got burned? Why not do what normal people would do and chalk it up to ignorance? But no...these bunch of inbreds got to start trouble and make a scene.

And that type of arrogance is what gets us into trouble.

We have been at war for over ten years. Collectively that is a massive army. We have collected and destroyed weapons. Does little good when someone else is supplying them with more and the cache's they have hidden from century's of warfare.

You are not going to win an ideological war with only conventional weapons and tactics.

They actually BELIEVE in what they are doing. There is no hidden agenda, they are not out to make profits.

You want the war to end? Leave. How long did it take Russia to realize there was no victory possible? How long will it take us?

If we are conducting war at a loss, as some would tell you, (which I don't believe), why don't we cut our losses and come home?

What do we possibly have to gain by continuing? How long will we kill and be killed for no real gains or accomplishments?

Things are the same, possibly worse, since we first invaded. What magic solution do they think we can conjour up to change that?

Stop. Pull out. Come home. We have a real need for them down Mexico way.

And they might actually accomplish something down there.
