Senators Introduce Bill To Compel Amazon & Others To Collect Sales Tax

Need a common rate for all states/jurisdictions - that will raise hackles among the low tax/no tax/ high tax states and the municipal taxers. Need a uniform reporting form for all 59 states plus counties and municipalities that expect revenue. Ain't gonna happen.

If government folks would just realize people will pay for services received that have a perceived value and avoid paying for mandated BS the they could have all the money needed - not have to grovel for all the money they can spend. Even Herr Pollitt is beginning to understand this - a wee bit.

It should not be that difficult assuming the databases are set up properly. Using Amazon as the example; they manage to collect fees for shipping and make payments to the various shipping companies. Amazon also manages to make payments to millions of affiliates and to display ads on the web pages of said affiliates.
The same goes for eBay.

I buy online for convenience, not to save the sales tax.
