Mayors Prayer Vigil Is A Flop

While the Mayor of Salisbury, Maryland called out for a prayer vigil today at the steps of the Government Office Building, there are only FIVE people who showed up. The Mayor, Laura Mitchell and 3 Afro-Americans African-Americans are present at this very moment.

Clearly Mayor Ireton has absolutely NO following and the planned stunt flopped right in his face, again.

Breaking News: Tim Spies and Shanie Shields just arrived.

UPDATE: Debbie Campbell, Kris Adams and Julie Brewington also showed up.

Probably a minority here, but I don't pray often and come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I did. However, I thought about it and if I did, it wouldn't be for our local government.

They can pray outside the building only, didn't they remove the Lords Pray from the council meetings? Can someone tell if I am correct.

People have wised up to the gov. exploitation of religion to cover up it's own corruption.

Where was Terry Cohen?

She's a Jew 6:56. She won't be taking part in any Christian gatherings.

The council didn't orchestrate this. However, just like Jimmy's little "Safe Streets" event last week, he makes sure that Mitchell and Shields get to sit at the cool kids' table.

No, they didn't vote on changing the rules until this evening.

You're a horse's ass. FYI - Cohen wasn't the one who insisted on stripping the Lord's Prayer from council meetings. That honor belongs to Laura Mitchell, who WAS standing up there at the "prayer vigil".

G.A. -- You broke your own rule NO cussing! I am not a horse's ass!

7:41pm Regardless of the fact she is a Jew she should stand united with the other council members and the Mayor. TOO MANY HIDDEN AGENDA"S!

G.A. What do you mean you are watching Jim, I thought you attended all these meetings! I see it must be on Pac 14----- busted!

GA and 8:30....I am 19:41 and I am not a horses ass. I am Jewish. I wasn't faulting Terry I was making an honest comment. This wasn't a council meeting, this was a photo op and not part of the cities business. I would not have been there since I am not a Christian. Why did you call me a horses ass? Perhaps it's you who are a horses ass for not being sensitive enough to understand that someone of another faith may not wish to be involved.

Maybe Cohen wasn't invited. Maybe she didn't know. Maybe she couldn't make it. Wasn't announced 'til late.

I can't believe idiots making Cohen's religion an issue about anything. It's just stupid. She's married to a Christian. She stood respectfully for four year's while everyone said the Lord's Prayer. Unlike Shanie Shield who wouldn't show up when she didn't get her way.

What is with this town?

11:07 I was thinking the samet hing. For 4 years she never once mentioned taking the Lords Prayer out of the meeetings.

What difference does it make if she is Jewish, they also pray.

Laura Mitchell is the one responsible for making waves and wanting people to NOT say the Lords Prayer at the meetings.

Amen Mardela, they need to bring the Lord Prayer back .......... God is Great........

dunno why, since no one wants any prayers at our city meetings.

Umm....I would have gone, but I never heard a word about it until reading this post.

Yes we do pray. But I wouldn't want to be part of a Christian ceremony since I am not a part of the Christian faith.
