MITCHELVILLE, Md. (WUSA) -- A professional boxer in Maryland is behind bars Friday night after being found guilty of first-degree assault. Ronald Boyd is convicted of choking and repeatedly punching his wife, 31-year-old Theresa Evans, outside the "My Place" nightclub in Mitchelville last April.

"He caused her to black out. He broke her cheek bone. And then she had to have plastic surgery to correct the damage to her face," said Ushika Evans, the victim's sister.

According to court documents, Boyd choked Evans to the point of "taking her feet off the ground" then punched her twice in the face.

THIS is a PRIME reason WHY we need to have a SPOUSAL ABUSE REGISTRY in this country. Maryland needs to be the leader and get one first as when people who meets people out . They can go to list and see if they are a ABUSER and know not to deal with them and protect themselves and their Families. So CALL ANNAPOLIS CALL MIKE McDERMOTT and demand spousal abuse registry before it is too late and your loved one becomes a battered spouse.

This happens every day, its just not news worthy for everyone one of them to be published. The fact that the suspect is of "Newsworthy" material is why we are hearing about this one.
