When you think about it, left turns across two lanes of traffic going in opposite directions are kind of crazy. Only an admixture of luck, skill, and a collective social agreement to, as a general rule, avoid crashing into each other keeps you alive. In fact, left turns increase the potential for an accident and also waste fuel. So traffic engineers have come up with a new street design, called "superstreets" that get rid of left turns from side streets onto major roads. And a new study says they are both faster, and safer.

Or you could use jug handles like they do in other states.
Then again the locals haven't grasped the concept of an acceleration lane. (i've lost track of the morons i've seen that sit at the end of the acceleration lane with their blinker on.)
So let's not confuse them any further.
They are also called J Turns and a number of them have already been installed on 301 between the Delaware line and bay bridge. The SHA has installed half a** ones on 13 just south of the bypass and on 50 at rockawalkin rd and 670. They need to install the acceleration lanes when the make the u-turn back on the highway. They also need on at the Royal Farms on White Lowe Road. That is a dangerous intersection.
First, lets ignore Delaware. The entire state has to be forced not to make a left turn in traffic. I wonder how much fuel is wasted sitting and waiting for your green left turn arrow.
Second, did someone really get paid to do a study to prove that left turns are more dangerous? If people need to be told this, then I feel for society. Maybe if we had less teacher "in-service" days, and more basic education we could relegate this back to "common sense"
people on the shore would need to learn to drive first instead of acting out Nascar fantasys
