Quote Of The Day

"The constitutionality and propriety of the Federal Government assuming to enter into a novel and vast field of legislation, namely, that of providing for the care and support of all those ... who by any form of calamity become fit objects of public philanthropy. ... I cannot find any authority in the Constitution for making the Federal Government the great almoner of public charity throughout the United States. To do so would, in my judgment, be contrary to the letter and spirit of the Constitution and subversive of the whole theory upon which the Union of these States is founded." --President Franklin Pierce (1804-1869)

conservatives prove time and again that the constitution serves as the gold standard ONLY when it fits their policy goals.

no true conservative are sick and tired of the federal government trying to take over every aspect of our lives. true conservatives want the government to get out of our way. for years the united states has been the beacon of the world to go to the aid of any country friend or foe in time of need. now the current administration wants us to pay for our so called sins and be a second rate country. true conservatives still believe that this is the greatess country, believe in american excellence. the current administration believes we are evil and seeks to destroy this country. if you like socialism move to europe.

10, last I checked, conservatives constantly work to stifle the rights of those who lifestyles/religions are not the same as theirs. The US, like any country in world history, moves when its personal interests are threatened. Hence we went to war in Iraq while doing little for Sudan. And if conservatives were so in love with the constitution, you wouldn't hear them spouting on about armed revolution just because their guy lost an election. Instead they would force their candidates to promote the best ideas for the country instead of cheer them on while the candidates vie for more power (at the expense of formulating sound policy).
