Copy Machines, A Security Risk?

Copiers sure do represent a security risk to businesses. These are the same risks present with improperly sanitizing used computers before getting rid of them. People should also realize that now that copiers are networked and granted access to resources like mail servers, they are also prone to potential hacker attacks.

For the record, Sharp copiers offer multiple layers of data security to help businesses and government agencies with this challenge. The same benefits of security that were designed for the Department of Defense are also available to local businesses and government agencies. More information can be found at: http://www.sharpusa.com/ForBusiness/DocumentSystems/MFPsPrinters/ProductFeatures/Security.aspx

As the area's local Sharp dealer, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, and Cisco Select Partner, Inacom is available to help provide a comprehensive approach to data security across all network devices.

If any readers have network security concerns, I'd be more than happy to speak with them about their situation. I may be reached at 410.543.8200.

What I want to know is, WHY do these copiers have to keep a digital copy of everything on a hard drive?

Suppose I make a copy of a document, then 5 minutes later decide that I want another copy. Can I access it from the hard disk? No. I still have to slap the original document down to make another copy. So what's the point of it saving what we did with it 5 minutes ago, let alone 5 years ago?
