Traffic Advisory

Flooded Roadway: Johnson Road, (CR 488), located in the area of Johnson Development, Seaford, is under 2 feet of water, possible road damage, DelDOT enroute to survey possible damage to the road. Released 12/09/09 at 12:20 hours

Warning to Motorists:

Currently several roadways throughout the First State, including Route 1 north in Frederica have areas where water is beginning to pond on the roadways. The Office of Highway Safety is asking motorists to drive slowly and with caution as it is often difficult to see the standing water until you are almost on it. In areas of high water do not attempt to drive through the water, instead please go around it.

Additionally, the high winds we are experiencing at this time are making driving challenging as well. Drivers of taller (high profile) vehicles such as SUV’s, trucks, and vans may find themselves pushed out of their lanes particularly when going over bridges and overpasses. The Office of Highway Safety is asking drivers to use caution and drive more slowly than normal on these structures.

Location: Rt 16 between Old State rd & Sharon rd, Ellendale, shut down ref electric pole across roadway. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.

In Sussex County reporting water hazards on secondary roadways, nothing shut down other than Rt 16 at this time.

UPDATE:
