O'Malley Cut Funding To MD Sex Offender Unit

Martin O'Malley cut funding to the Maryland Division of Parole and Probation's Sex Offender Unit. The parole and probation officers monitoring sex offenders should never have had their hours reduced. Surely there must be something else Maryland can cut.

It is very rare for a union to criticize O'Malley. State workers are in there second round of furloughs. I don't know if this guy is currently on parole or probation. This is the article from this time last year.

Sex offenders need life sentences without the possibility of parole. Either that or the death penalty, and not some easy way out, but a slow painful death. I bet then we would have far less sex offenders!!

Another brilliant liberal move. We have programs for free food, free energy assistance and needles for drug addicts, but what gets cut-programs that protect society from monsters. To top it all off, if you have to shoot one of these bastards in self defense, you become the criminal. We must rid our government of the idiots in charge. Hopefully, we can do it peacefully in November. People had better get ready in case we can't.

Why don't they stop repaving MD roads every year and do what other states do and wait until you get a couple potholes? Salisbury has the highest crime rate per capita in the State of Maryland...but, we have the BEST roads! I think the State's priorities are a bit off.

Don't forget the free cell phones for those on welfare.

the government NEEDS to get its act together... i understand the need for cuts and all, but there are other places that can, no need to be cut first.

You vote! Time to let politicians know we are tired of their catering to special interest in exchange for contributions and time to start protecting our citizens!

Joe, I thought government was too big? I thought you liked smaller government? Don't you want to keepyour hard-earned pay? I do. I'll buy more guns so I can protect my family properly.

Really? This blog site is ridiculous. You're going to use this tragic time to push your political agenda? That is absurd. I guarantee that this cut came with other ones, but of course you're going to use this horrible tragedy as a way to focus on the one cut that supports you're biased opinion.

And did Norm Conway go along with this absurdity, The State of Maryland has tax money to give to Pollitt and pals to purchase land for parks and parking for the Civic Center for outrageously high prices but not for public safety.

This has to be changed in the election next year.

This is absolutely unbelievable! I am guessing that nothing has hit close to home for the governor...maybe he should come sit in the house with Sarah Foxwell's family and see if funding should be cut then! Of all times to put out a story! I am appaulled!

How bout paying a little bit of a higher electirc bill and fire up the chair, to make more room in the jails for these people. How about cutting the programs in the jails and not the correctional officers pay. Or better yet maybe they should get some medical assistance program together for the chemical castration of these a**holes, there is no rehabilitation that will help them.
