Major Snowstorm For Mid-Atlantic

A powerful East Coast storm will clobber the mid-Atlantic region later Friday into Saturday. Heavy snow from western North Carolina to southern New Jersey will cause a serious disruption of travel. Roads will turn icy and snow covered, and major airports such as Dulles and Baltimore-Washington International will have lengthy flight delays. Snow accumulations from central Virginia to Delaware will be as much as 10 or 12 inches.

"12" - Someone get me Al Gore"
NBC4 meteorologist Tom Kierein said the coming storm has the potential to be the worst December snowstorm for the D.C. area in at least the last 25 years. The last time the District had 6 inches of snow in December was 1982, Kierein said.

I can hardly wait to see how long it takes the local road crews to actually start plowing. I guess I shouldnt plan on leaving my house considering 2 inches of snow is enough to shut this place down. The usual will occur, it'll be already too snow covered before they start and then the typical local "it'll be alright" mentality will set in. Plan on lots of local accidents.

I hope it snows bunghole deep to a Giraffe! Nothing in this world more beautiful than everything covered in a blanket of snow. I want to build a snowman with my kids and watch the dog carry on then go inside to make hot cocoa for the family and my neighbor..... boy oh boy I love the snow!!

Snow Lovers I hope you are right. I wouldn't mind playing the snow with my son but how you know it always turns to a sloppy rainy mess for Salisbury with little to no snow.

I hope the snow Gods are good to us though! Enjoy!
