Proactive Police work? More like illegal Police work. The officer has no authority to remove tags for them being just expired. If there was a MSP pick up order or the tags were suspended yes he/she can but just for expired no. Maybe there is more to this story than we know.
9:44 your an ass! It caused Joe GREAT pain to post something good about the the SPD and you have to make a comment like that. Why don't you stick a BIG donut you know where!
God , I wish they would hang at the Pecan Square Food Lion. They would make so much money on illegal parking in the fire lane. I was there for about an hour and no less than 22 cars parked in the fire lane. Lets do the math , 22x50=$1100.00 an hour! I spoke with the manager and he said that he calls them and they never show up.
11:47...thats bs you wack job! the veh is unregistered and not even legal to be on the road. msp pick up orders are from the mva and only veh are issued pick up orders when msp are notified by the mva. so now how smart are you??? btw, good job spd. let them take their own tags off. they screwed up. pro sat in the car taking pics with his phone. OR the police officer will be suspended for doing his job..................
um last I heard you get a TICKET for expired tags, why would he have to turn them over to the police? unless he did something else I would have told the cop to kiss my behind if he asked for my tags...something is missing from this story Joe, what's the deal?
The same can be said for WalMart South in Fruitland, regarding parking in the fire lane. Usually 5 or 6 cars are parked there. The other day, a huge Pepsi truck and five cars were in the fire lane; those of us who pulled into the other lane to get around these jokers were met by the huge Transit bus that was in the correct lane. The first car in our line was almost struck head on. What a mess!
Better check your facts dude. The tags belong to the State of Md. and you only pay for the use of them and the privilage to drive on the highway. Thats basic drivers ed classwork. Expired or uninsured tags can be picked up by LEO.
If a tag is expired for a certain amount of time, the vehicle is considered unregistered, thus taking the tags and giving them back to the owners, mva. You can also seize tags for a mva tag "pick up" order, may be lack of insurance, failed emissions, not fixing the item that you recieved and Equipment Repair Order for, etc. Anyway you can not refuse to give up the tags, they will be taken. So, just give em up. Parking in a fire lane is a huge problem in this area, however responding to the call for service amount in Salisbury does not leave time for these type of violations. If you want a better quality of life violations enforced, push for change at SPD, more officers, better management, more accountability, we need more citizen pressure to fix this area. Maybe a new mayor who actually sees that we have an out of control crime problem. Time for change, before we all pay a higher price then we are now for the lack of police cooperation and communication.

If the cops took his tags more than likely he let his insurance expire and they put a pickup order out on those tags.
