On Wednesday, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) released a video to Breitbart News exclusively in which he argued that the surveillance state under President Obama had grown beyond any reasonable proportions. “We were once outraged and dismayed and spurred to resist when British soldiers came knocking at our door with illegitimate warrants seeking taxes on our papers. Today,” Paul continued, “your government responds that there is no expectation of privacy once you consign your records to a third party. A Very Dangerous Game
New York City police authorities are investigating a series of unprovoked physical attacks in public places on people who are Jewish, in the form of what is called “the knockout game.”
The way the game is played: One of a number of young blacks decides to show that he can knock down some stranger on the streets, preferably with one punch, as they pass by. Often some other member of the group records the event, so that a video of that “achievement” is put on the Internet, to be celebrated.
The New York authorities report a recent series of such attacks and, because Jews have been singled out in these attacks, are considering prosecuting these assaults as “hate crimes.”

Study Says Nut Eaters Have Lower Cancer, Heart Disease Risk
DALLAS – Help yourself to some nuts this holiday season: Regular nut eaters were less likely to die of cancer or heart disease — in fact, were less likely to die of any cause — during a 30-year Harvard study.
Nuts have long been called heart-healthy, and the study is the largest ever done on whether eating them affects mortality.
Researchers tracked 119,000 men and women and found that those who ate nuts roughly every day were 20 percent less likely to die during the study period than those who never ate nuts. Eating nuts less often also appeared to lower the death risk, in direct proportion to consumption.
The risk of dying of heart disease dropped 29 percent and the risk of dying of cancer fell 11 percent among those who had nuts seven or more times a week compared with people who never ate them.

Brown, Gansler Duel Over Campaign Pledges
One day after Attorney General Doug Gansler's campaign posted an online ad criticizing Lt. Governor Anthony Brown for his role in creating the state's glitch plagued Health Benefits exchange, Brown's campaign called for an end to what they say are negative ads.
The Brown campaign asked all candidates to sign a pledge not to mention the opponents names in their ads.
While Brown himself was not available for comment, his running mate, Howard County Executive Ken Ulman told WBAL's Maryland's News Now that the ads critical of other candidates "frustrate" voters.

House Votes To Block Obama's 'Fracking' Rules
The House voted to block the Obama administration from from regulating hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, on federal lands Wednesday night over opposition from the White House and Democratic lawmakers.
The bill passed in a 235-187 vote and garnered support from twelve Democrats, while only two Republicans voted against it. The bill was part of three energy-related bills to speed
through the House this week intended facilitate oil and gas development and create jobs.
The bipartisan bill prevents the Interior Department from implementing new regulations on fracking, which is already regulated by state agencies. The legislation prevents the department from regulating fracking in states and on tribal lands where regulations are already in place. It also tasks the Environmental Protection Agency with studying fracking.

City Pays Out $137K To Hassay, ACLU
The city has settled its case with Boardwalk violinist William Hassay, agreeing to a $137,000 payout and stopping the issue from going to a full trial.
“I appeared at a settlement conference last Wednesday with the Mayor in federal court,” city attorney Heather Stansbury said this week. “After consideration of how, in all probability, the result would not change…the town made the decision to settle.”
Hassay, with the assistance of the American Civil Liberties Union, sued the city in federal court this past spring alleging violation of his First Amendment rights.

Obama's Race For The Cure
A good President needs a big comfort zone. He should be able to treat enemies as opportunities, appear authentic in joy and grief, stay cool under the hot lights. But humility doesn't come naturally to those who decide they are qualified to run the free world. Maryland Health Exchange Releases New Numbers
The Maryland Health Benefits Exchange said Friday so far 2,253 Marylanders have signed up for health insurance under President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act.
That’s an increase of about 500 from the previous week.
More than 59,000 Marylanders have created accounts with the state and there have been more than 450,000 visitors to the website.

Visual Concerns With Resort Utility Pole Project Expressed
OCEAN CITY – City Council members voiced concerns over the current replacement of utility poles on Coastal Highway this week, asking Delmarva Power Senior Public Affairs Specialist Jim Smith to come before the council to address a few issues.
“I don’t know if any of you have taken notice of these poles that Delmarva Power is putting in. These poles, some of them tower two to three stories above the buildings that were allowed to be built along Coastal Highway … they are forever changing the look of the Town of Ocean City,” Councilman Joe Mitrecic said.
Mitrecic added the largest utility poles have not even been installed yet, as sleeves for the poles have been put in place measuring to be at least four feet in diameter.
“Riding down the road tonight it came to my attention and what they’re doing to the skyline to the Town of Ocean City,” Mitrecic said.

Three “Knockout” Attacks Reported In Philadelphia Area
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — “Knockout” attacks have been reported in several states around the country and now investigators believe three people have been attacked in our area.
Police in Lower Merion are investigating two attacks in the area, and Philadelphia detectives are investigating an attack in Northeast Philadelphia.

HISTORICAL COMMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER 11-23-13
Amusing Memories
In the early days of the 20th Century, courting was done on a very different level than it is today. I won’t even try to go to the present methods and I wasn’t around 100 years ago. I did hear from my grandparents that they courted in her mother’s parlor. My grandfather would walk the two miles in from where he lived out on Anderson Rd. (now Pemberton Drive) and sit with my grandmother until her mother would turn on a certain light. That was his signal to leave. It was usually early by present day standards.
That leaves us with the mid-20th Century. The end of WWII brought about economic changes from which America has yet to recover. The women had gotten used to bringing home a paycheck and when the men returned from the war, the two incomes allowed them to purchase their first home. As economic situations increased, maybe a second car was in the budget. This car was usually the vehicle in which the children learned to drive and used for the “parlor”. Houses built in the 1950’s were usually constructed with a living room, dining room, kitchen, bath and three bedrooms. They didn’t have “family rooms” or “parlors”.
The only place that a young couple could expect any privacy was in the family car. In those days, there were many out of the way places for just such a quiet moment. These were affectionately known as “parking places”. Anyone that grew up in the 1950’s has many memories of their favorite spot. This was in the age of innocence when you didn’t have to worry about being mugged or worse. Leaning on the horn ring was about as bad as it got. What a mood breaker! There was also a thing called “grasshopping”. This was when somebody found your favorite spot and a group of boys would sneak up on the car and pound on the trunk and scare the bejeebers out of you. It was all done in fun and usually never led to anyone seeking physical retribution. There are stories about a road nearHebron that was known as Ghost Light Road. I have heard stories about strange thumping noises underneath the car from some people who blamed it on the “ghosts” and I have heard the same thing from some former “grasshoppers” that did the thumping.
I have recently heard a story that a young married couple had determined that the spark had gone out of their marriage. Even though they had a house, they decided that the spark could possibly be fanned by returning to the origin of their courtship. They went “parking” and found the old spark again. True story.
The drive-in theater was another destination for a young couple seeking some measure of solitude with the family car. Drive-in theaters were great in the summer and you didn’t even have to turn the sound on that metal speaker that used to hang on your window. All the cars were parked so that they tilted slightly up in the front for better viewing. Some kids even had their own jalopy. They were revered by their peers. Visiting other cars was common if you knew the occupants and they were otherwise “unoccupied”. Also, the car’s trunk provided entrance for a couple more guys on “dollar night”. As the song goes: “Those were the days, my friend. We thought they’d never end.”

As a 78-year-old woman walked down the street in Brooklyn, carrying her purse and bags, a young black male, about 20 years old,punched her in the head as hard as he could and ran away. The man said nothing and didn’t steal a single item.
This is one of the latest instances of “Knockout,” a “game” of evidently increasing popularity. Young people — sometimes female but usually male, predominantly black, in their teens to early 20s, in groups or alone — approach unsuspecting strangers and punch them in the head as hard as possible with the intention to knock them unconscious with a single blow. Sometimes the aggressors will rob the victim, but usually violence itself is the purpose of the attack. Some of the attackers have even recorded videos of their exploits.

Grocers are stocked with variety of turkeys this time of year, fresh and frozen, shipped in from across the United States. But if you’re interested in a farm-fresh Maryland-raised bird, several local sellers are still available to supply your feast.
You might be surprised to learn that Maryland is a thriving poultry producer, representing a $1.7 billion industry and employing almost 7,000 workers, according to the University of Maryland Extension. Nearly all of the farmers produce chickens, but each November, turkeys take the stage. Census data shows that Maryland produces roughly 740,000 turkeys a year, valued at $7 million.

Obamacare is the greatest single expansion of federal regulatory authority in American history. In one stroke, it puts 16 percent of American economic activity — virtually all of health care and health insurance — under the thumb of federal bureaucrats. It dictates the minimum insurance coverage that everyone in the United States must have.
It punishes severely, without a hearing, anyone who deviates below the prescribed minimum. It forces nearly all Americans to acquire coverage in a one-size-fits-all policy, including coverage for events that cannot occur.
Obamacare was passed by both houses of Congress with support from Democrats only, using parliamentary tricks, rather than straight up or down votes. And all the Democrats voted for it after President Obama promised them and the American people ad nauseam that if they like their current doctor and if they like their current health insurance, they would be able to keep them under Obamacare.

A biography of President Obama being studied by at least one fourth-grade class has received criticism for glossing over negative aspects of the president, painting white voters as likely racists and highlighting the commander-in-chief’s early identity struggles by focusing on his teenage drug use.
The book, “Barack Obama,” was published by Lerner Publishing in 2010 as part of their series “History Maker Bios.” All presidents going back to Richard Nixon -- except George W. Bush -- were the subjects of similar biographies published by Lerner, which did not respond to questions from FoxNews.com.

(Reuters) - Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives will pursue a stopgap government funding bill that keeps "sequester" automatic spending cuts in place if congressional negotiators fail to reach a budget deal, U.S. House Speaker John Boehner said on Thursday.
Boehner told reporters that he hopes budget talks led by Republican Representative Paul Ryan and Democratic Senator Patty Murray can produce a deal that sets spending levels for fiscal 2014.

A newly released state Board of Regents report indicates fewer students showed up on Maryland college campuses this fall.
The enrollment decline was even more telling for some of the state's Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
The enrollment numbers are based, in part, on how many students reported to campus last year as opposed to this fall. They give college administrators a pretty good idea of whose signing up for a higher education.

MANHATTAN - It was a packed courtroom on Tuesday for the hearing of Ernie Tertelgte, a Manhattan man who says he's being wrongly prosecuted for trying to feed himself.
Tertelgte, 52 years old, was arrested on Monday and is accused of fishing without a license and then resisting arrest.
He appeared before the judge via video from the Gallatin County Detention Center, and it was standing room only more than a dozen friends and family members filled the small courtroom.
Tertelgte appeared subdued and respectful before the Justice of the Peace during Tuesday's court session, which went very differently than his court appearance earlier this month, where Tertelgte and Three Forks City Judge Wanda Drusch got into a heated exchange.
Terteltge argued that the court did not have the authority to charge him, citing "natural law."

Who had more freedom?
Was it the pioneer who rode horseback across the Midwest, settled in a wide-open space without paved roads, grocery stores or hospitals, and had to build his own home, cultivate his own food and educate his own children?
Or was it the less-adventuresome brother he left behind in an Eastern city who lived next door to a hospital, across the street from a public school and kitty corner from a grocery store — but in his later years could only get to work if he rode a public transit line and if the transit line ran on time?
I vote for the pioneer. He was not dependent on government. His brother was.
Self-reliance and freedom are inseparable. Americans once knew this in their very souls. Now, coaxed by those with a socialistic vision of government, we are beginning to forget it. We are becoming ever more dependent on government and putting our freedom at risk.
It is as simple as that.

Home Sales Plunge At Fastest Rate In 16 Months
It seems, despite the Fed's efforts to unscamble the treasury complex's eggs, that the rate shock of a taper/no-taper decision has become sticky in the housing market. With the fast money exiting, existing home sales missed expectations for the 4th month in a row - dropping to the lowest annualized number since June (very much against the trend in recent years). This is the biggest month-over-month drop in existing home sales since June 2012 but, of course, NAR has an excuse... "low inventory is holding back sales." So, in other words, they could sell loads more houses if only there were more available for sale (or prices were lower...)...

Surely many under 55 must marvel at the way their elders hold onto this event and this flawed man. For me, not only was the assassination part of my adolescent formation, but it had a real influence on my involvement in political life. Combined with the writing that I also did as a youth — I won a newspaper writing contest at age 10 or 11 — I can look back and see the beginnings of the meandering line that brought my career to where I am today.

Ever since I started writing about what is happening in the world around me, my primary theme has been that the root cancer at the core of the U.S., and indeed global economy, is cronyism and an absence of the rule of law when it comes to oligarchs. In the U.S., this cronyism is best described as an insidious relationship between large multi-national corporations and big government to funnel all of the wealth and resources of the nation to themselves at the expense of everyone else. In a genuine free market defined by heightened competition and governed by an equal application of the rule of law to all, the 0.1% does not aggregate all of a nation’s wealth. This sort of thing only happens in crony capitalism, which is basically nothing more than complete and total insider deals to aggregate newly created money into the hands of the few.

Why does a police department which hasn’t had an officer killed in the line of duty in over 125 years in a town of less than 20,000 people need tactical military vests like those used by soldiers in Afghanistan? For that matter, why does a police department in a city of 35,000 people need a military-grade helicopter? And what possible use could police at Ohio State University have for acquiring a heavily-armored vehicle intended to withstand IED blasts?
Why are police departments across the country acquiring heavy-duty military equipment and weaponry? New classified testimony on Benghazi by five CIA employees shows the administration's initial narrative about a protest gone awry was "indefensible," according to a lawmaker who took part in two classified sessions before the House Intelligence Committee.
Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., told Fox News that witnesses described how five mortars rained down on the CIA annex over 90 seconds during the attack -- with three direct hits. King argued that the details raise more questions about why the administration initially claimed the attack sprung from a protest over an anti-Islam film – a narrative officials later abandoned.

Ocean City Settles Busker Lawsuit; Violinist To Receive $21K In Damages
Last April, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed suit in federal court on behalf of violinist William Hassay, Jr. challenging the town’s noise ordinance changes on the Boardwalk the organization believes are an attempt to silence musicians. In the suit filed against the Mayor and Council and then-acting-Police Chief Michael Colbert, the ACLU alleged the enforcement of the town’s 30-foot noise ordinance on the Boardwalk infringed on Hassay’s, and other performers’ fundamental right under the First Amendment to engage in freedom of speech and expression in a public forum.
In July, U.S. District Court Judge Ellen Hollander issued an opinion granting a preliminary injunction and essentially prohibiting the town from enforcing the 30-foot rule for street performers on the Boardwalk until the case was resolved, which ultimately carried over for the rest of the summer season. With the preliminary injunction in place, all that was left to be resolved was the long-term future of the town of Ocean City’s 30-foot rule for Boardwalk street performers and what, if any, damages should be paid by the city to Hassay.

ANNAPOLIS, MD – In 2011, Maryland officials spearheaded the creation of the Maryland Corrections Task Force, a partnership between federal, state, and local law enforcement personnel to combat gangs and root out corruption in Maryland correctional institutions.
Rod Rosenstein, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, stated, "Everybody in the task force anticipated it would result in the prosecution of a significant number of correctional officers."
As a result of coordinated efforts between federal, state, and local partners, an investigation was launched that led to the indictments in April 2013 of 25 individuals, including 13 correctional officers.
The Maryland Task Force continued its work after April, and today that case took another important step forward, as 19 additional individuals -- including 14 correctional officers -- were indicted. The charges filed today are part of the same case that was launched in April; it was filed under the same case number and will be heard by the same judge. As the U.S Attorney stated today, "The new charges focus on criminal conduct that occurred prior to April 2013."
"We express our gratitude for the continued good work and responsiveness of the U.S. Attorney's office and our federal law enforcement partners," Gov. O'Malley said. "Since April, we have redoubled our efforts to crack down on corruption and improve security at our correctional institutions -- protecting the integrity of our correctional institutions requires constant vigilance, and we continue to improve those efforts every day."

Seaford, DE- The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit is currently investigating a home invasion that occurred east of Seaford late last night.
Troopers responded to the 24000 block of Jewell Street around 10:45 Wednesday evening after a 9-1-1 call was placed from the residence stating two subjects had just broken into their house. The investigation revealed two black males forcibly enter the front door to the home and confronted the three victims in the living room with handguns. They demanded money from the 31 year old male victim and began striking him in the head with the pistol before fleeing the residence without any money or items in an unknown direction. The male victim was slightly injured as a result of the assault and was transported by EMS to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

A Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Deputy located Patrick Stevenson 42, Of Snow Hill Md., at a residence on Covington Street in Snow Hill, who was wanted for escape in the second degree. OCEAN CITY MAN ARRESTED FOR BURGLARY

On November 20, 2013, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Ocean City police responded to the area of Baltimore Avenue and 1stStreet for a report of a burglary. The victim reported that the suspect had entered his room, a nearby office space and another room of the hotel and had stolen numerous items.
During the investigation, Ocean City Communications broadcast a description of the suspect over police radio. Shortly after the broadcast, the suspect, who was later identified as Donovan Smith, 46, of Ocean City, was spotted in West Ocean City. Police responded to the area and arrested Smith without incident.
Ocean City police have charged Smith with multiple counts of breaking and entering and theft. Smith was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and transferred to Worcester County Jail on $50,000 bond.
Homes Raided, Subpoenas Issued Targeting Conservative Groups And Allies Of Scott Walker
In Wisconsin, dozens of conservative groups and allies of Gov. Scott Walker are undergoing political intimidation from the left at the hands of a special prosecutor.
Subpoenas have been issued demanding correspondence and donor information of right-leaning organizations and individuals and raids have been conducted resulting in law enforcement officers taking computers and files in a secret investigation, according to reports.
“In recent weeks, special prosecutor Francis Schmitz has hit dozens of conservative groups with subpoenas demanding documents related to the 2011 and 2012 campaigns to recall Governor Walker and state legislative leaders,” the Wall Street Journal writes.

The Democratic National Committee is reducing ticket prices for a high-dollar fundraiser in San Francisco next week that features President Obama, according to an email sent to donors Monday.
Obama is set to appear at a luncheon at the SFJAZZ Center on Nov. 25 to benefit the DNC, but whether it's a sign of donor fatigue or a general lack of interest, tickets have not been selling as expected.
"An exciting new update I would love to mention is that we have reduced the price for the general admission luncheon tickets to $500/person," Shefali Razdan Duggal, a member of the DNC's national finance committee, wrote in the email. "In addition, all current $1000 ticket holders will be upgraded to VIP (this includes premium seating near the stage and Presidential rope line access)."
Originally, entry-level tickets for the event started at $1,000, so the DNC is offering what amounts to a 50 percent discount.

The Kennedy Assassination (November 22, 1963) 50 Years Later
November 22, 2013, is the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The true story of JFK's murder has never been officially admitted, although the conclusion that JFK was murdered by a plot involving the Secret Service, the CIA and the Joint Chiefs of Staff has been well established by years of research, such as that provided by James W. Douglass in his book, JFK And The Unspeakable, published by Simon & Schuster in 2008. Ignore Douglass's interest in the Trappist monk Thomas Merton and Merton's prediction and focus on the heavily documented research that Douglass provides.
Or just turn to the contemporary films, taken by tourists watching JFK's motorcade that are available on YouTube, which show clearly the Secret Service pulled from President Kennedy's limo just prior to his assassination, and the Zapruder film that shows the killing shot to have come from President Kennedy's right front, blowing off the back of his head, not from the rear as postulated in the Warren Commission Report, which would have pushed his head forward, not rearward.
I am not going to write about the assassination to the extent that the massive information permits. Those who want to know already know. Those who cannot face the music will never be able to confront the facts regardless of what I or anyone else writes or reveals.

Obama administration to allow consumers to start signing up for second round of ObamaCare enrollment on Nov. 15, 2014, as opposed to Oct. 15, pushing back the sign-up until after the midterm elections.

The "Obamacare Shock" - One California Employer's Terrifying True Story
My company, based in California, employs 600. We used to insure about 250 of our employees. The rest opted out. The company paid 50% of their premiums for about $750,000/yr.
Under obamacare, none can opt out without penalty, and the rates are double or triple, depending upon the plan. Our 750k for 250 employees is going to $2 million per year for 600 employees.
By mandate, we have to pay 91.5% of the premium or more up from the 50% we used to pay.
Our employees share of the premium goes from $7/week for the cheapest plan to $30/week. 95% of my employees were on that plan. Remember, we used to pay 50% now we pay 91.5% and the premiums still go up that much!!
The cheapest plan now has a deductible of $6350! Before it was $150. Employees making $9 to $10/hr, have to pay $30/wk and have a $6350 deductible!!! What!!!!
They can't afford that to be sure. Obamacare will kill their propensity to seek medical care. More money for less care? How does that help them?
Here is the craziest part. Employees who qualify for mediCAL (the California version of Medicare), which is most of my employees, will automatically be enrolled in the Federal SNAP program. They cannot opt out. They cannot decline. They will be automatically enrolled in the Federal food stamp program based upon their level of Obamacare qualification. Remember, these people work full time, living in a small town in California. They are not seeking assistance. It all seems like a joke. How can this be the new system?
Pelosi, pass the bill to find out what's in it? Surprise! You've annihilated the working class.
