A Viewer Writes: Wal-Mart Price Gouging

Joe, my wife just returned from the Berlin Wal-Mart. She picked up a 12oz plastic container of hand sanitizer from the shelf marked at $2.97. She then went to one of their price checking machines and it listed the product at $4.97. I believe that much of a mark up is taking advantage of a situation. I hear about people who want to praise Wal-Mart for the great job they're doing. I don't believe they are doing such a bang up job. Shelves that have been empty for a month are still empty. Their problem seems to be in their management. They're using the same ordering periodicity as they were before all this started. Wal-Mart , like China, is not a friend of ours. Wal-Mart is China!

A friend when to north Salisbury Walmart to get fabric for masks for her coworkers at the hospital and they had jacked the process up of fabric- from 2 to over $4 a yard. They drove a lot of small businesses out of business and then raise prices on the products they used to drive the small business out of business. They also copy popular products and sell them, their brand, for less than the original product and stop selling the name brand manufacturer's product. I dont like it but I will shop their, as their prices are lower than anyone else.

Everyone has a phone/camera next time do like I do and shoot a photo of the tag in front of the product you think has a bad or wrong price.

You people complain about everything. Dam. You all want capatilism but don't understand supply demand. So if the manufacturer has to charge more to get the raw materials fast and immediately and then logistics has to charge more to get the items fast and immediately. Cause we all know you have 0 patience. You dont think maybe it is costing Walmart more to purchase the product as well? So guess what happens if walmart is charged more to purchase the item. You guessed it then walmart needs to charge the customer more.

The funny thing is the same people complaining about a 70 cent raise on eggs milk and hand cleanser is the same people that willingly and happily pay 30% of their income at the end of the year to taxes. Schmucks

A local pharmacy had 8 or 12 oz bottles of hand sanitizer for sale on a table for $17.99 written on notebook paper. A couple of days later the notebook paper price tag was taken down. They must have seen my complaint on social media and everyone saying to report them for price gouging.

Check the barcode to make sure the price of $2.97 was for the product you bought. I had a similar experience at another Walmart. When shelves get empty they start spreading products around on the shelves so they don't look too bare.

Kill two birds with one stone. Buy a big bottle of vodka. Use as a nip and on your hands. Cheaper than hand sanitizer FYI...

Hey, you're lucky you found any hand sanitizer. I haven't seen any on shelves in weeks. If you want it bad enough, you'll pay more for it.

The Walmart Rt 13 North is managed well I am sure at this time their are problems but not like those at the Fruitland Walmart. They have always had personnel with attitude they took away the benches for people waiting for others at check out and the elderly to sit over 6 mos ago that is not a Coronavirus problem. Walmart North still has benches and the elderly, and those with physical problems thank you. At Fruitland the other day I just wanted to take my cart since there are no benches and lean on it in front of the Ice Cooler as I have had two recent knee replacements this rude female employee told me I could not wait there and took my cart away. I tried to explain to her why I needed it and she just walked away to the front door outside door to talk to another employee. We need to all boycott this store as it doesn't operate well since new mgmt I am told came from the Pocomoke store. All stores in a chain should fit the same basic needs a place to sit (not during pandemic times) and personnel that know how to talk and listen to customers.

Are you kidding me???? The North Walmart is the worst of the worst Walmart in existence. I don't know if they even have a manager. If so, they have got to go! Bare shelves week after week after week. No excuse for that. Most of the cashiers have a chip on their shoulder and don't speak to you or say thank you or kiss my butt! I w as in there recently on a rather busy day and there was ONE regular register open and ONE express register. I refuse to use those self check out aisles. That store is just horrible.
