Trump to donate third-quarter salary to fight opioid crisis

President Trump is donating his third-quarter salary — $100,000 — to help combat the nation’s opioid epidemic.

The White House on Tuesday said the president has given the money to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health, which oversees the public health offices and programs to fight the opioid crisis.

The president has declared the opioid crisis a national health emergency and unveiled his “Stop Opioid Abuse” initiative in March 2018.

In 2017, more than 70,000 Americans died from opioid overdoses, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
