WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of two federal grants for entrepreneurs on the Eastern Shore: A $40,530 grant to the Eastern Shore Entrepreneurship Center in Easton and a $96,039 grant to Maryland Capital Enterprises, Inc. in Salisbury. The grants were awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Office of Rural Development. The funds will be dispersed through the Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program.
According to the USDA, the grants “will be used to provide business based training and technical assistance to rural microenterprises and microentrepreneurs in rural Maryland (Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico and Worcester counties). Technical assistance efforts are intended to promote small business growth and development in rural communities, leading to job creation and jobs saved.”
Rep. Andy Harris made the following statement:
“Small business and innovative entrepreneurs are crucial to our local economy and job growth on the Eastern Shore. As a member of the Agriculture Subcommittee of the Committee on Appropriations, I applaud the investment of these federal funds in entrepreneurs on the Eastern Shore. I will continue to work to protect and sustain our way of life in rural Maryland.”
