ATLANTA —Atlanta's dazzling rainbow crosswalks won't be repainted any time soon, the mayor said.
The symbol of solidarity with the city's LGBTQ residents will remain, the office of Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced, days before Atlanta's Pride festivities begin.
"Much like glitter, the crosswalk is here to stay indefinitely," spokesman Michael Smith said in a statement to CNN.
The announcement comes the same week another city denied the Federal Highway Administration's request to remove its rainbow crosswalks.
Ames, Iowa, painted its first crosswalks with the colors of the gay, gender non-binary and transgender pride flags in September. That month, the FHWA sent a letter that claimed the new art interfered with the safety of road users.

I guess my question is why do we need to pander to LGBTQ? Is this all part of their "Equality" effort? These people belong to a vast minority and another example, IMO, of the tail wagging the dog. Again, IMO, the activity they engage in is anything but normal; God proclaims procreation...these people can not do that; nuff said.
Seems like an open and closed lawsuit to me. The highway administration told you it was dangerous and asked you to remove it. You thought it was more important to make a couple people fell good about themselves instead. Now someone gets hit in the crosswalk and sues the city for millions of dollars (and the city will lose). No wonder all these democrat run cities are bankrupt.

Why do they have crosswalks specifically for those with sexual confusion? Where are regular people permitted to cross the street?
