The OC police are doing the job they are paid for. These idiots that ruin and degrade OC property should go to jail . Please stay away from OC we do not like your kind of car culture , as you have said it has happened in other cities .

He has pretty valid observations I think. Social media has pushed this thing over the edge. I do wonder, granted someone would have to pay for it, why not set up a few burn out spots with spectator areas? Light it up, make them pay for it. It wouldn’t stop all of the idiots, but maybe if it thins out the street crowds you can center law enforcement on a few spots rather than them paralyzing the whole town and requiring leo’s On every block. Maybe even spread it wider like bike week, see if you can include delmar raceway etc. I’m not sure it would work, but I don’t think the national guard will work as that’s a disaster waiting to happen, plus I think the animosity thing is real and getting worse.
The one point is real, it’s turned into a battle of wills, nobody can win, time to try something to find common ground. You can honestly say even though they aren’t great for restaurants, hotels and private renters are benefiting from them, that’s one win for the town, why not give them one win back.

The bottom line is you acted like idiots and trashed a city that did not want you there in the first place. You dumb asses watched Fast and Furious and thought that b.s. was real. The minute you tamper with the frame of a vehicle you are unsafe for street use. Take your little snowflake asses to the drag strip NOT somebodies home. You would not pull in a drive to residence and act this way so why act like idiots in O.C. it is a home and a place to visit.

These losers model their worthless lives after a stupid movie fast n furious.... get a life

“We do not like your kind of car culture” how sad and hateful. We do not like flagrant disregard for public safety...fair enough. I can’t stress enough that there is another side to this story. Not everyone there is behaving badly. Probably the 80/20 rule and the hoodlums’ behavior is so profoundly offensive that it becomes the impression associated with everyone. I remember a time in Salisbury when drunken, out of control SU students were terrorizing entire neighborhoods including assaulting police. The neighbors understood that the entire student body wasn’t the enemy. They built bridges for better relationships and made sure that the ones who were lawless were held accountable by the university and police. There is an opportunity here for the city of OC and this group to work together for something positive.

8:58 who would write insurance and pay for it for a burnout zone or area?
Pumpkin Chunking couldn't get insurance.
Nice idea but not doable.
The race track is a possible solution if the owner of the track is willing to put up with the so called 20% that are the trouble makers.

Nope - 9:29 - the kids had their chance and could have registered with the sanctioned h2oi folks, but chose not to....then, the en masse result to crash the party happened, and this is the result. The whole crowd is now unwanted for the actions of a few. Welcome to real life _ nobody is listening in OC after the place got trashed - time to find someplace else

I listened all the way through. He made valid points and balanced his arguments. Yes, as he said, he sounded like an old fart, but that's what he and all of his friends will one day be, so they should all embrace it as a gift, not a curse.

Culture defined as the arts and other manifestations of intellectual achievement regarded collectively. This is not "culture".

We all should go to jail. That one time you stepped on my property, yea i consider that degrading my property. You should go to jail for it. We all should go to jail, that's what freedoms all about. You cant have freedom without going to jail first right.

Somebody wrote: "The bottom line is you acted like idiots and trashed a city that did not want you there in the first place".

That is completely, entirely wrong.
We (the town) wanted them there. It wasn't 'til they acted the fool that we changed our mind.
Do you not think that the town would not want an extra 100,000 people on a slow, September weekend?
Like it or not, OC's business IS Ocean City. That's how we make our money.
The town WANTS people to come and spend their money! They even advertise that fact all over the Mid-Atlantic region!
Make no mistake, we want them here, just don't tear up the town.

One more thing:
They need to adopt new regulations for this "Special Event". Instead of saying that there will be "enhanced" fines, it should state that the town will levy the "maximum fines", whatever the town can get away with!

What disease does he have that causes his arms to spaz out like Elizabeth Warren arms do?

As far as the insurance policy goes, as long as the burnout zone has safety features, barrier areas etc, policies can be written. Certainly a lot of leg work would have to happen. Punkin had policies, lost them when they had two different issues. Not saying it wouldn’t have challenges, or that it would even work but start the conversation so everyone can benefit. Look at the comments on this thread. Almost exclusively emotional and comments of contempt. Hopefully these are only bystanders, but those in authority need to undo their emotion and look at this like a business. Right now everyone wants this to be punitive and uncooperative, the solution lies in finding out how we as a community and business owners can profit, they can have fun, and at the same time other visitors and the community feel safe and not overwhelmed. For all those things to come together concessions have to be made or effort to accommodate. Most towns would kill to have this many visitors and under better circumstances this is a dream come true for ocean city.
Get the emotion out of it and figure out how to give them their fast and furious and at the same time restore order by having safe zones to make this work. Take the viewers away from the social media hungry insecure segment and they eventually won’t come and you may have an event that will be profitable and still keep everyone relatively satisfied.
Remember, car events always have challenges, cruisers week in spring is rough and tons of locals have grown to hate it, however, people accommodate and make it work. Start from the same place and land on benefit for everyone just like cruisers.

wow so now ocean city wants to ban any organization from the city they deem not fit for the community. today its H20 what will you be banning in the future? NAACP ? boy scouts, girl scouts? fire mans convention, republican party , democratic party? i understand you guys had issues with some party goers who got "way out of hand" but if we in this country simply ban groups or organizations because some in said organization broke the law we wouldn't even have a government.

maybe someone in the city managment should take a look at sturgess and see how they keep the peace. i would be willing to bet it takes planning to keep thousands of 1%ers aka outlaw bikers happy for a week. lots of activities and yes including multible burnout contest around town under controlled situations. sturgiss does this year after year and has little issues doing so. in fact the town welcomes the bike run. ocean city does this very well indeed for bike week and cruisin weekend. where is all the venues and such for h20? look all im saying is weather you invite or not they are coming. and most of these guys coming are young men with fast cars with nothing better to do to show there asses on the road because there is no better place in there mind to do it.

all im saying is i bet with some creativity the city and H20 could come together and find a way to please all parties involved.

At 5:56:

There is no way you can compare those other events with the "car weekend" in OC.
Very simply: This is nothing more than a Social Media mob. It has very little to do with cars except that this mob drives similar vehicles.
Reason with them? Hell no that wouldn't work!
It would be like trying to reason with a shoplifting mob at a mall.
Don't make this any more than it is. It is just a mob scene.
Harsh penalties, and a LOT of cops is the only thing that will hold them back.

BAN the Punks from Delmarva > Plain & Simple fix !!!!

The fact that this THUG thinks there is any justification for what these CRIMINALS did in our town is RIDICULOUS!!! After this year the police should be authorized to shoot on site. This worthless SOB should be locked up in Guantanamo as the head of a TERRORIST ORGANIZATION. When is Ocean City going to take this seriously?! I think by the time they do we will no longer be considered a family resort. Untie our police forces hands and let them start cracking skulls.
