CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There are two essential things when you're out in the Carolina heat during summer: a cold drink and deodorant.
But according to a new poll, an alarming amount of folks are ditching their deodorant altogether. The poll found that about 40% of people 18-24 don't use deodorant at all and haven't in the last month.
For their slightly older peers 25-34, the results aren't much better. A whopping 31% of those polled said they also don't use deodorant. If you're trying to limit the aluminum in your body, we can understand that. But there are plenty of alternatives on the market.
The poll found it's not negligence or a lack of personal hygiene. They simply don't think they need it. So, we asked the Wake Up Charlotte audience what they thought. Needless to say, deodorant is an absolute must-have.

Some still don’t brush their teeth and the girls believe in “free bleeding”, which is no pad or tampon at period time. DISGUSTING!!!
It's the smell of Spring when the J1 workers come to Ocean City not knowing what deodorant is. By the time we get to September, many smell like French whores and are pregnant.
But they know how to screw.
I was teaching high level self defense to some of them. I noticed a strong smell but luckily with my concentration techniques I only smelt lavender.
Regular soap use can be effective.
They don't know they stink BECAUSE no one will ever tell them !!! ..We are not aloud to do this in society BECAUSE we just might offend them !!!!......Oh how we all become so soft !!!! lol
Just ride the D.C. Metro and you'll see for yourself. Phew!
I ride the DC metro when I am feeling melancholy for my year I studied in Paris. The fragrance of the people brings it all back to me....and then I am glad I am home!

If anyone thinks applying soap for body odor protection all day is a moron don't sit next to anyone stay away from others. My mother in law thought the same thing the house and her stunk to high heaven and if you had to take her anywhere on a hot day with the windows up you would feel sick by the time you got to the destination. Do us all a favor use deodorant, brush your teeth, take a bath and use good hygiene bet you'll have more friends.
