Interview: Why Gary Sinise, aka Lt. Dan, Is a Grateful American

Twenty-five years ago, Gary Sinise played the role of Lt. Dan Taylor in the blockbuster movie “Forrest Gump.” It transformed his acting career and changed his life. Today, Sinise is an outspoken advocate for America’s military veterans. He’s also the author of “Grateful American: A Journey from Self to Service.” Sinise recently spoke to The Daily Signal about the book, his acting career, and his passion for helping veterans.

I've read the book. Got it at the Library. It is tremendous and cannot be read without some tears in your eyes at times.

Northwest Woodsman: An author of several books about army aviation during the Vietnam war contacted me a year or so ago wanting details on an incredible story of the rescue of a US Marine helicopter crew that I was instrumental in locating and coordinating the initial rescue attempt. He has been attempting to convince Sinse to turn the story into a movie. Have not heard the results. Google “ Rescue of Lady Ace72”.
