7 Jobs That Increase Your Risk of Cancer

Could your job increase your risk of cancer? Nearly 40% of Americans will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives, according to the National Cancer Institute.

While most people are aware of the major risk factors involved with the disease, not many have stopped to think about whether or not their job could be making them sick — until now. Reader's Digest released a report listing several jobs that can increase your risk of cancer. We look at seven of those:

1. Flight attendant — Experts are finding mounting evidence that links the job of a flight attendant to an increased risk of cancer. This could be because at high altitudes, cabin crew are exposed to more ionizing radiation, which could lead to several types of cancer that affect the colon, breast, stomach, and liver.
