Good, legitimate question with a simple answer.

Chemo is not available in various forms on the black market.

A junkie can get pills, heroin, fentanyl (a major problem today), morphine.. etc etc by buying them on the street, to get the fix their bodies need. When they can't afford it, they turn to various forms of crime, which costs tax payers and property owners money.

"Free" methadone isn't "free". Taxpayers and property owners are paying for it because its less expensive than not offing it.

Offering free methadone helps to get people off opiods, it sedates their need for a fix without getting high, and is less expensive than doing nothing. It helps reduce crime rates, and helps people get back to contributing to society.

Simple answer.

Now, I DO think cancer patients should get "free" Chemo. Much like "free" methadone isn't "free", countries with socialized healthcare pay dramatically less for their care. It is not a perfect option, but it is better than what we have now and no one has to choose financial ruin vs the health of their loved one.

8:01 - Stop with the nonsense. You make sense right up to your answer which is not right! Socialized healthcare is not a better option than what we have now. We can offer health care to everyone without socialized health care and reduce price as well. This crazziness regarding health care is just a political football. The ACA is a disaster and would not have been passed if democrats did not corrupt congress. But now we are stuck with it and it will be punted for years. We can debate the "free" treatment for certian illnesses and populations, but stop with your socialist agenda. Never miss a chance to use a crisis. Nice try!

Less costly healthcare would be greatly advanced by two simple steps:

Permit sales across state lines to stimulate competition.

Remove forced coverages so consumers could buy what they need.

Why should policies for post-menopausal women or guys with vasectomies be forced to have pregnancy or maternity features?

Catastrophic features would cover the high dollar, unexpected needs.
