Clintons Haunt Democrats in Midterms

Democrat midterm candidates closely associated with Bill and Hillary Clinton face possible hurdles as Republicans invoke their opponents’ associations to the former president and failed 2016 presidential candidate as well as their record low favorability.

Democrat U.S. Senate candidate Phil Bredesen praised former President Bill Clinton at the August 2009 Tennessee Democratic Party Jackson Day fundraiser. “I absolutely believe that President Bill Clinton wrote the book for Democratic leadership in our White House,” Bredesen said at the event. Clinton also spoke at the event, according to the Times Free Press.

Bredesen sent $33,400 in 2016 to try to elect Hillary Clinton as president. In March 2016, the former Tennessee governor suggested to Fox Business viewers that “a lot of dedicated Democrats” in Tennessee needed to “roll up their sleeves and go out and get to work” to elect Clinton in a tough state.
