Ocean Pines Residents Are Outraged About Goose Culling

As seen on Facebook. But your local mainstream media wants to sell you on how "humane" killing 300 geese was a good thing for the environment.

It is good for the environment. Because overcrowding of invasive species is bad for the environment. Know how I know that? Science. But please, tell me again how your feelings and emotions are more credible than science.

and who can blame them. the heartless pieces of $hit could have easily gathered up eggs every season but because they are heartless and brutal they chose to murder 100s of geese. Geese pair up for lie and will mourn the death of one. then you have that mouthpiece marty clark or something like that who said they put on their big boy pants to murder the geese. what a POS liar. they sneaked around like the cowards they are to do this because they didn't have the nerve to be confronted. whoever this clark garbag3e is his/her family should be ashamed of being related to a liar and a coward.

This is just not about the geese. It is also about how the decision was made without discussing in depth with the residents.
It was done secretly and underhandedly because the decision makers knew it would not be a popular decision.
How much research was done for an alternative solution? I am all ears......but I expect no one who was involved with that decision wants to talk right now.

9:21- Your version of science is 100% incorrect! It is not an invasive species! It is a migratory bird. Huge difference! This is not about my feelings and emotions, idiot!

If a Dumbass wants to pretend to be smart, you should at least read a book once in awhile.

You just got burned.

Well first off, you all can blame your own-selves!!!!! It is that simple.... You all are the ones who want your pretty little yards, pretty little ponds and everything else... This is what happens when you invade into an animals living area... They have to go somewhere, where else are they going to go, you have a water supply they need you morons... Get rid of the ponds and canal and water ways and your bird problem will go away instantly... But you all have to have water front property even if it is a ditch, named a canal!!!!

This is no different than in Alaska or Michigan or the like, you keep building houses into the animals territory, where else are they going to go??? So you start to see a moose or big game animals who once had a forest to live in but now it is a 100 duplex subdivision... Where is the moose to go? Then when you see it walking down the street, you all freak out and call the coward police or animal control, to come kill it!!!!

You have to learn to live with wild animals especially since you people keep wanting to take where they live!!!! Think about where you would be or go or what you would do if yo were homeless!!!!! Maybe some of you people need to go instead of the birds!!!!!

Call PETA. Email PETA.

Amen. These people who come here from across the bridges want to make this place a shit hole and could care less about animals!!! Go back across the bridges or learn to live with the wildlife

A lot of misinformation out there. First off they aren't migratory geese, they are year round non migratory geese. The State of Maryland has a September 1st hunting season for Non Migratory Geese. Look it up. Second, the people came before the geese. We build perfect little habitats for geese and then are shocked and amazed when geese move in. I can remember not that long ago when the geese came in the winter months and migrated back North in the spring. There has to be a better way to control the population and I do believe that it needs to be controlled, not wiped out. Just as a public safety issue at least.I have seen people stop their vehicles on Rt 589, get out and try to shoo the geese off the roadway while cars and trucks speed by pissed off. I can't believe someone hasn't been hit yet. In other words we need balance.

Sorry 1134, you WANT my money and you NEED my money! OUR (making a circular hand motions meaning ALL of us) bigger problem is TAXES - not some butt hurt feelings about birds and might as well throw those ducks in there too! If you born/bred/ locals would stop voting in the same families to elected office, change would be embraced properly.

Example of embraced change: Donald J. Trump!

You should see the mortgages owed in Ocean Pines vs the homes that are paid off. These folks are living way beyond their means in an undesirable area. Most people who have a lot on their backs are attempting to transfer their anger and stress in any way possible.I am an expert in that field, and these people are lashing out in desperation. The Goose issue just happened to come along at the right time.

They used mean traps that broke their legs of the geese before they could get to them and ring neck. It was a hellish nightmare how they did this.

Ocean Pines is getting set to have festivities to celebrate their 50 year anniversary. I will never believe the O P people are upset over those filthy birds being slaughtered to feed the hungry. I have yet to meet anyone who is happy to have those disgusting geese as neighbors.

Nothing like your kids being chased by the geese, and kids come screaming into the house tracking bird poop. We lived in our neighborhood here in Salisbury 14 years before the geese came to stay - 4 years ago. When I cut grass the poop is everywhere, which covers my shoes For those who are poopy geese lovers, please feel free to come get all you want. IMO these migratory birds, over the years has turned invasive. They are in my area 24/7, 365 days a year.

Thou shall not kill!
Amen.

Again, time to put the storm water ponds underground to take away the habitat created by the surface ponds. Surface ponds make breeding grounds; underground ones do not.

Problem solved without killing anything!

To Steve 8:17-- no such thing as an underground pond. Not man-made anyway. Caves, acquifers yes. Engineered -- not so much.
