Chamber to Host Wicomico County Revenue Cap Forum July 24

Publishers Notes: Since when does the Greater Salisbury Committee have ANYTHING to do with matters like this! This is EXACTLY why they brought in Mike Dunn, (a worthless piece of crap) to further the Good Ol' Boy agenda. Ladies & Gentlemen, crush this bug while you have the chance. For once in your lives, shut this piece of crap and the organization he's tied to up. They are a cancer to Salisbury and are NOT following their original mission statement to simply be an organization of wisdom to help local businesses, THAT'S IT!

The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce will host presenters Michael Dunn, President of the Greater Salisbury Committee (GSC), and Sarah Guy, Associate Director of The Business Economic and Community Outreach Network (BEACON) at Salisbury University, in their presentation of a study of the Wicomico County Revenue Cap July 24 at 8:30 a.m. at the Chamber offices.

They will discuss the properties of the Cap, the challenges posed by it, its effects on County revenue and taxes, and the options moving forward. Their findings will be followed by a public forum.

This is a free event. Registration is available online at salisburyarea.com or by calling Director of Events Lauren Barnas at 410-749-0144.

I helped get the revenue cap in. But I'm to old now, to help stop them from overturning it. It's up to you younger people to get out and stop them.

These are the ones who wants to raise my taxes but promote tax cuts for themselves and their businesses. That is very hypocritical, I don't believe the County tax payers will stand for this socialistic control as Salisbury tax payers have done.

Saw more than enough of Mike Dunng when he had the gavel at City Council meetings. Absolutely one of the low points of city history (Heath, Jake and Boda are seriously trying to follow his lead) since mid-80s.

If he is for something, the smartest course is generally 180 degrees away.

John Cannon is working with Bill McCain elected, and to get Jack Heath elected. They have 2 things in Mind. Work with Dunn to overturn the Tax cap, and Heath wants to work to get rid of the county executive and let Cannon run the county.eliminate the county executive position.

Dunn is not to be trusted in anything dealing with the government. His track record is peppered with self-service over public service.

My profession and lifestyle allows me to interact with people from all backgrounds and philosophy. Even if the County Council decided to overrule the Citizens of Wicomico County, and through a Super Majority place the issue on the ballot, I am convinced from my unscientific survey that the voters would not vote to repeal the Revenue Cap.

Just think, if we could be guaranteed an increase in our compensation of 2% or the CPI, which ever the lesser, on annual basis, every year, the majority of us would probably take it.

In conclusion, Wicomico County government and schools have continued to operate, expand spending and facilities all within the "constraints" of the Revenue Cap. It has been a good thing and has served to some degree attract businesses and residents to our County. With all the increased new home construction costs, i.e., sprinkler and septic systems, it is the only thing we have going for us.

In sharing my comments, I hope I have been able to maintain some objectivity regarding this issue, and that I did not get caught up in total subjectivity since I was the Chairman of V.O.I.C.E and a part of the impetus in getting the issue on the ballot by a petition drive in 2000.

In the end as I always say, the only way to have control over politicians' spending is to control the amount of monies they are give to spend, because invariably they will spend EVERY DOLLAR THEY ARE GIVEN.

I believe this was scheduled on purpose because of this reason.

Bill McCain is a part of the Greater Salisbury Committee and Mike Dunn and Bill Chambers got him to run for the county council so that he can give all teachers tax-free incentives in Wicomico County and to help do away with the revenue cap. He wants all teachers to be exempt from paying property taxes in Wicomico County.

That is a fact. Why else do you think Bill McCain is running after he said he would only serve 1 term.

I saw Bill Chambers of the Salisbury Wicomico Chamber of Commerce in Crisfield today hanging out at the Wicomico Democrats tent. What does that tell you about that Douche Bag.

Oh really? Then why did the Republicans stay home during the Primary while the Democrats came out and voted for these Socialist Democrats. There were almost twice as many Democrats voting than the lazy Repubicans. 9:42 AM you have no idea what you are talking about. Look what he did with that annexation of Queen Avenue/Marquis Avenue where that senior housing is at Sassafras Meadows. Salisbury did an illegal pipe stem annexation 1 1/2 miles out into the county just so Mike Dunn and Daddy Dung can make millions off that property. Now the county is stuck servicing the road and handling police patrols on the road even though city annexed it.

The Walls For Mike Dunn Keep Crumbling Down

Word has reached SBYNews that former city council president Mike Dunn has been removed from Salisbury University's Neighborhood Relations Board. Dunn was the co-chair of the organization tasked with improving university-neighborhood relationships by finding answers to issues that create friction between the two.

Dunn's ousting follows previously reported behavior at a December meeting that participants described as "rude", "outrageously aggressive" and "personally offensive". Dunn was reportedly engaged in dressing down other meeting participants as he allegedly supported unhealthy landlord activities in a loud, red-faced rant that defied the efforts of other members to calm it.

Dunn wore a baseball cap throughout the entire meeting, even as a moment of silence was offered by the rest of the members to a recently deceased SU student.

Many had previously questioned Dunn's placement as co-chair of the group, even his qualifications as a member. He does not live in the city. Nor is he technically a bona fide employee of the university.

The replacement for Dunn as co-chair is said to be Salisbury City Administrator John Pick.

One member, in an SBYNews phone interview said, " There were actually some neighborhood people who didn't come to the meetings just because he'd be there. His way of getting things done wasn't getting anything done. A lot of people found him so abrasive and contrary that he stood in the way of positive action. I don't think anybody (on the board) is going to miss him."

It was obvious with the hiring of Dunn that GSC was going to move in a direction far from its mission statement. That's why many members left at that time. What's the point of participating when it's going to be all about government power and not building Salisbury's economy?

Glad I moved out of Salisbury. The new place has appreciated far faster, I pay less taxes despite a higher home value, and my town is much safer. If you can afford to get out, do it!

Dunn has made a living out of being devious, starting with Sassafras Meadows, where his name was on the deed of a parcel outside of town for "convenience's sake" (sounds like Hillary, doesn't it?) just before his hand picked "Dream Team" Barrie Tilghman council voted to annex it. Dunn made, according to him, "millions" on the deal with the developer to get a slice of all development profits on the site.
Next, the Old Mall development scheme, where over 750 housing units were to be inserted into those two lots, violating zoning codes and forcing the neighborhood residents to accept radical changes in density and all the headaches that come with it. The proposal used a tax credit for the developers, wherein no city property taxes that pay for roads, lights, sewer and water, would be collected from them for about 30 years. Dunn and the Baltimore County developers were very, very chummy over this proposed project. In the end, the court prevented the whole thing, based on what the judge saw as an illegal switcheroo that was being perpetrated by Dunn, Tilghman, Comegys and their tools on council, the same people who brought you the failed wastewater treatment plant. Thank a group of concerned citizens for bringing the issue before the court to determine its legality.
The city attorney at the time, Paul Wilber (yes, that Paul Wilber), was responsible for writing and reviewing the proposal documents for the housing project, just as he was the wastewater treatment plant contracts, which, curiously, had a one million dollar liability clause for the builders of the $70 million project, the project that failed from day one and will cost city taxpayers over $170,000,000 in the end, if there ever is an end.
Dunn moved from a cozy home across from SU on College Avenue immediately after his council term to a half million dollar house in Tony Tank, an enclave for some of the area's wealthy just outside city lines. A few years later, he sold that place and moved back into the city, much to the dismay of many, into a more modest place in a nicer part of the Camden district.
He went from part time job to part time job, most notably as corporate donation director of WSCL, the non-profit radio station at Salisbury University. Under his "leadership", WSCL's on air fundraising hit new lows, especially when he was at the microphone and his syrupy whine assaulted the ears of Delmarva Public Radio Listeners. He was let go soon after.

His appointment as the highly overpaid office boy for the Greater Salisbury Committee came as a shock to many who had witnessed his short, crony-filled, self-serving political career.

To say that Dunn is a snake in the grass would be a major understatement. He is not to be trusted with your toys or your money unless you have it in mind to not get them back. If Dunn is for removing the revenue cap, which modestly limits the county's income via property taxation and thereby puts respectable limits on county spending, then you know there's something in it for Dunn, something more than a few hearty pats on the back from his developer, investor, banker and landlord pals. Salisbury has its own swamp, just as DC does, and Mike Dunn is one of the uglier creatures in it.

Anonymous said...

"A few years later, he sold that place and moved back into the city, much to the dismay of many, into a more modest place in a nicer part of the Camden district."

Well written and informed 10:10, but you didn't mention the reason for this more. Word on the street was he had to be located in the city to run for mayor. After Dunn pointed out to the public that he had issues with self control (child like behavior) like other city official's he didn't have the stones to face defeat and chickened out.

People have been saying negative things about Cannon and Brewington, but more than anything we need to get them elected. We need to get all the good Republicans elected. We need to get Cannon, Dodd, Kilmer, Brewington, and Cain elected to the Wicomico County Council. We need to keep the incumbents re-elected to the County Council in order to work with Executive Culver when we get him re-elected. They will work together and will work together better than the Democrats. Do NOT vote for Democrats in Wicomico County.

The sad thing is that we have to get John Cannon and Julie Brewington elected to the County Council at large or we will be stuck with 2 SJW/BLM supporting progressives. That alone will give you three Democrats on the Council and you only need 1 more for the majority to overide any of Bob's work. District 2, District 3 and District 4 all have Democrats running. All it would take is one of them with Mrs. Davis giving the Dems the majority.

Think about this. There is already 1 Democrat and 1 Republican that has no opponent for County Council. Two of the most bashed candidates at large are Cannon and Brewington. If they are elected that is three Democrats. If Lying Josh Hastings beats Cain there is your 4th Democrat for the majority. You also have Scott and Gregory running against incumbents and all but 1 Republican had fewer votes than the Republicans in the June Primary. Five Democrats elected is a Super Majority to override vetoes. That one Democrat that had fewer votes than Kilmer can easily capture more Republican votes in the General. This can easily happen to give the council 6 progressive Democrats and 1 lone Republican. This county would lose if any of the Democrats are elected.

The Democrat running against Culver got several hundred more votes than Bob did in the executive race. Can you imagine that low informed unemployed Democrat getting elected in the County Executive race? It happened in New York City when an unemployed Socialist/Progressive Democrat beat a high ranking and powerful Incumbent Democrat in NYC. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and unknown Progressive, whose only source of income was as a bartender and she won because the progressive/socialist/millennials came out to vote just like they did in Wicomico County.

Wake up you lazy Republicans. Yes, you are lazy if you stayed home during the Primaries when you had a total of 9 days to vote in the primaries and you decided the future of Wicomico County wasn't worth it.

For the sake of my children, I pray that you get off your lazy butt and vote in the General Election and I pray that you vote during Early Voting just in case something comes up. You can even vote with an absentee ballot if you think you will not be in the County.

I would even encourage each and every one of you good Republicans to make sure that you get your neighbor, mother, father, children, aunts, uncles, grandparents, nephews, nieces, neighbors and friends to get out and vote. Get a meeting with them and go over their sample ballots and encourage them to vote "R" straight down the ballot. Convince your Democrat friends to vote Republican, but more than anything get your Republicans to get out to vote. I can't stress this enough and YOU need to do the same.

To borrow a phrase from Mr. Joe Albero, it is your race to lose!

Mike Dunn is a camellia. 30-40 years ago he was behind and supported Salisbury's most conservative republicans now he's fip flopped and supports the more liberal give away any and all monies we didn't work for. I'd like to see someone dig deeper into Dunn's transition from working part-time jobs for decades to this so called luxurious lavish life he has now. Hell at one point he was disabled with chronic fatigue syndrome. I guess he must have found a miracle cure because he seems pretty fit for someone so ill

Why don't you do the digging and report back?

Thank you for posting this and I would encourage you to keep this and the "Comment Worthy of a Post" article side by side and to the top like you used to do. Please keep these two articles at the top until tomorrow at 10 AM. Today is July 23th and tomorrow is the 24th, the morning of the "presentation."

If these two are kept at the top all day today it will definitely get a lot of attention and it will encourage good conservatives to go to that meeting.

"The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce will host presenters Michael Dunn, President of the Greater Salisbury Committee (GSC), and Sarah Guy, Associate Director of The Business Economic and Community Outreach Network (BEACON) at Salisbury University..."

Keep in mind that BEACON is Memo Diriker. Another one that crawls behind the scenes and supports Democrats.

If you are not a member of the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce you can still attend and they won't turn you away. It's open to the public and good people are needed.

"Their findings will be followed by a public forum.'

He was working full-time as a pharmaceutical sales rep for a big drug company when he got CFS. I'm assuming he received disability payments from them.

Don Coffin,

Hope you and the other main players in V.O.I.C.E. will be there to critique and contradict what those libtards will be saying at their meeting next week. Can you get Jack Plummer and John Barkovich, MD to be there too?

Ditto That!

Enquiring minds want to know.

Fortunately John Palmer was there to speak up against Dunn and his bozo buddies on the Greater Salisbury Committee.

That's a surprise as liberal as he has become on that school board.
