NBC Bet $69 Million on Megyn Kelly—Then Viewers Vanished

Former Fox News star was supposed to bring ‘Today’ a bigger audience

Megyn Kelly was supposed to bring star power to NBC News and a bigger, broader audience of morning viewers to its “Today” show franchise.

Instead, the three-year, $69 million bet to woo Ms. Kelly from her conservative prime-time perch at Fox News is backfiring.

Since taking over the 9 a.m. hour of the lucrative morning show in September and rebranding it “Megyn Kelly Today,” Ms. Kelly has struggled to make the shift to daytime broadcast television, with its delicate balance of soft features and hard news. Her ratings declines and higher production costs have been a drag on a critical franchise for NBC.

“I need to introduce myself to people who don’t know me or know some bastardized version of me that they’ve gotten from a website or a TV show,” Ms. Kelly said in an interview. “There are definitely some who only know me through some caricature they learned about on ‘The Daily Show.’ ”

She played the game well at first but, revealed another side at the first Pres debates, this began her spiral down, she jumped ship while she still had capitol but, there was no audience for her in the leftist media.

She is her own caricature, created by none other than herself in the 2016 election season and after. What a waste of talent. The network would be smart to cut it losses.

She did it to herself. She should watch her own shows. She may be pretty on the outside but very ugly on the inside. Maybe she is not so bad off tv.

I agree with above first three comments. I didn't know she was on the air now. That being because I cut her loose when she shoot herself in the foot at the first debate. How could a FOX employee jump Mr. Trump knowing this is Trump country. Maybe she was like the fat failed presidential candidate believing too much into the wrong party. I wish her no harm, but she needs to get out of the public eye, maybe work for ACLU supporting and defending liberal's after they screw up.That would keep her busy.

She turned into a loser newsjockey and someone else is president. I think she might learn to choose her battles a little more wisely in the future. If she ever has a future.
