West Virginia Teachers Strike Inspires Talk of Protest in Other States

The success of the statewide walkout, which ended on Wednesday, could spur similar movements across the country at a time when the fate of unions is in the Supreme Court's hands.

West Virginia’s teachers are back in class today after Gov. Jim Justice approved 5 percent pay raises for the state’s public employees, ending a nearly two-week-long strike.

The teachers received everything they asked for, including a 16-month freeze on health premiums.

Before the deal, spiking health care costs and low pay were drivers of deep discontent among West Virginia teachers, who are among the lowest-paid in the nation, ranking 48th out of 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Trump is gonna pull a Reagan like he did with the Air Traffic Controllers.Local colleges will allow teaching students to fulfill their internship commitments by teaching in whichever school districts feel the need to strike.A modest salary will also be included.Think I'm kidding? The process of becoming a full fledged teacher will be adjusted. The same requirements will be necessary, just in a different order.Trump does not play.

Dumb A$$es. Now West Virginia students have 8 days to make up. Five work days and 3 snow days. The 5 work days are because the teachers went on strike and now the kids and families have to suffer. I say fire the damn teachers or penalize them for creating this problem on the families.

I have supposed conservative family members in WV and they seemed to support the teachers strike. Some people are just easily brain washed.
