Over the past year, the Baltimore Police Department has undoubtedly gained national attention in a corruption scandal involving the Gun Trace Task Force, running wild on the streets of Baltimore.
Members of this elite group were charged with “racketeering and other corruption, accused of robbing citizens, making illegal arrests and filing for thousands of dollars in overtime they never worked,” said the Baltimore Sun.
Maurice Ward, one of the Gun Trace Task Force detectives, took the stand Tuesday in the case of officers Daniel Hersl and Marcus Taylor who were charged with robbery, extortion, fraud and firearm charges.
Ward’s testimony provided a somewhat shocking account of how detectives used GPS locators to follow drug dealers, and then, eventually rob them of their cash and drugs.

Hiring bottom of the barrel gets you thugs... These are the type of cases you indicte and do press conference not the case of Freddie Gray. Still makes no sense to me why they indicted those innocent cops in the Gray case on total bs and then covered it on national news knowing they couldn't win the case in court. States Attorney and her team need to GO.
Must have been trained by Limelight Lewis when he was up there saving the city from the riots.
So they admit to robbery, planting evidence which leads to false arrest. And you think its unlikely they did any wrong in the Freddy Gray case?
You Know What? These so-called Dirty Cops were working on behalf of Good Americans (if there are any of those left in Baltimore, which I doubt) in order to Eradicate the bad guys from there terrible high levels of crime. The overtime is hard to defend, but the rest of it was to benefit us. Those of you who criticize and complain all the time about Hard Working Police need to check yourself.
Always have told my family, "never trust a cop".
leo's are corrupt when their leaders are corrupt, the leaders are corrupt because their leaders/politicians and high gov officials are corrupt. It will not only continue but will worsen with increasing speed UNLESS accountability is APPLIED

Hiring bottom of the barrel might get you thugs but who says they hired the bottom of the barrel? Cops can get corrupted. Or maybe (or and) they hired people who already had a bad streak. It happens.
And it's not limited to Balt or the state of Md. Police need an oversight agency to keep them in line that is NOT associated with any police agency, to keep it more honest.
Not just Baltimore portions of this are in almost every department across the country.
"...eradicate bad guys...."
THAT is what they were doing??
ROBBING drug dealers and then doing what with the money and drugs? Turning it in?
They were gang bangers with a gun and A BADGE.
Don't care, if you don't do bad things, then your not on their radar. So obviously the only people they pissed off were criminals. Don't care how they did it as long as the criminals get theirs. I work and pay taxes for a living so should everyone else. I lived in baltimore city never had a cop bother me. I went to work walked to stores and never a dirty look. And there were people the cops watched, and believe you me they did stuff to have eyes on them.
He must be semi-medicated today. Not totally off his rocker.
Hey, isn't the OCPD chief retired from Baltimore police force?
What do you expect with the mayor and chief of police they have? Plus they hire people to be officers who complain they cannot pass the test. Hiring idiots who claim the test was made too hard for a black to pass it. Just how does one do that? Are they admitting they are no where near as smart as a white?
